Azarov instructs Yefremov to begin consultations with Parliament’s factions

The Party of Regions chairman Mykola Azarov has instructed the deputy Party of Regions chairman Oleksandr Yefremov to begin consultations with the representatives of all factions of the new Parliament today, the press service of the party informs.

Consultations will concern the organization of work of the Parliament and the urgent and strategic issues, which are to be addressed by the Parliament.

The time and place of the consultations should be agreed with the factions’ representatives.

NBU: Information about alleged collapse of hryvnia is groundless

Information about alleged devaluation of the national currency is groundless, Yuri Horshkov, head of the NBU department on currency frauds told the direct line on “What do we introduce 10% fee on currency operations for?”, ForUm correspondent reports.

“There were rumors in 2011 that hyvnia exchange rate would rise up to 15 per one dollar. Like in that movie, every year we have a tradition to publish an article on the New Year eve about how everything will go bad,” he said.

As for the dollar rate, Horshkov underlined that after the introduction of 10% fee on currency operations, “the rate will reflect the real economic situation without speculative component.”

Moreover, NBU official pointed out that the amount of currency sold by the population has increased twice and keep growing. “The amount of currency for purchase is proportionally decreasing,” he informed and added that the current trend will continue.

Horshkov: Majority of world financial companies work with offshore countries

We should not take any actions of an offshore country as purely illegal measures, chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine committee to combat unfair currency transactions Yuri Horshkov said during the hot line, ForUm correspondent reports.

“We have to understand that majority of the world financial companies work with offshore countries for various reasons. So it would be wrong to say that it is necessary to disable or completely remove the restrictions. I think that this issue requires a very detailed study,” he said.

Head of the National Bank of Ukraine committee to combat unfair currency transactions Yuri Horshkov advises Ukrainians to keep their savings in local currency, investment coins and treasury bonds, he said during the hot line “Reasons for introducing 10% tax on foreign currency sale”, ForUm correspondent reports.

At the same time, the expert stressed that people should keep funds on deposit no longer then a year or two.

According to Horshkov, the investment coins of the NBU are more appropriate option for long-term investments. He stressed that they are made of precious metals, which constantly become more expensive, and have a numismatic value.

As for treasury bonds, according to the financier, it is not difficult to invest in them.

The level of cash transactions is being reduced in Ukraine, chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine committee to combat unfair currency transactions Yuri Horshkov said during the hot line “Reasons for introducing 10% tax on foreign currency sale”, ForUm correspondent reports.

“Reducing the level of cash transactions is related to the fact that people are gradually coming to understanding that non-cash payments are easier, safer and more comfortable,” he said.

Horshkov added that it will be the best option, if the greater part of transaction is in a non-cash form, as that it will speed up the turnover of funds and positively influence the economy in general.

FM recommends Ukrainians not to travel to Romania

The Foreign Ministry recommends Ukrainians to refrain from traveling to Romania due to worsening weather conditions, spokesman of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Oleksandr Dikusarov told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

“On December 8-10, Romania had a sharp deterioration in weather conditions including heavy snowfall and strong winds. And as a result the main European highway E-85 operates with restrictions caused by the work of snowplows,” he said.

“In this regard, the Foreign Ministry recommends Ukrainians to refrain from traveling to Romania until weather conditions improve,” the spokesman concluded.
