President of Ukraine: Timoshenko’s dismissal is “the test” for the power

Victor Yushchenko called the Cabinet’s and President’s Secretariat dismissals were “the serious tests” even for the supporters of the new power.

“Ukraine has got open and frank discussion and not only political one for the first time,” stated President.

President also proved that the possible drop in power’s rate was not the tragedy. “The last eight months the nation was in the deep political knock down by the radical solutions of the situations happened in Ukrainian politics. There are lots of reasons of poor information concerning these situations and solutions that is why people do not have an opportunity to take a definite position towards the events occurring in society,” said Yushchenko.

He is sure that the steps and actions of the new government are “need to be explained to everyone for Ukrainians not to listen to the rumors and legends.”

“It is not the one-day deal,” stated President of Ukraine positively assessing the role of Ukrainian journalists who “tried to find out what really happened in Ukrainian political life.”

All current processes in Ukraine will yield positive results

Victor Yushchenko: All current processes in Ukraine will yield positive results

President Victor Yushchenko believes that all current processes in the country will eventually yield positive results.

“This is a unique period. One day we will appreciate all things we started today,” said the Head of State after a ceremony to lay the foundation of the Ivan Marchuk Museum.

Speaking about the sharply decreasing popularity rate of the government, the President said “there is no big tragedy in that.” Yushchenko is convinced that one of the reasons is insufficient information about all recent dismissals of some high officials.

“For the past eight months, the nation has been witnessing political shocks and radical conflicts among politicians. The people are not quite aware of everything that happens in the country, so they cannot form their opinion,” he said.

The Head of State thinks that these dismissals were “serious tests” for many adherents of the new government. However,he is sure that “profound things are being done in Ukraine today” and “these measures will only add the new dynamic [to life].”

“It is necessary to explain my decision to the people so that rumors, myths and legends should not mislead them. It will take more than one day to explain everything,” he added.

Yushchenko stressed that for the first time there was an “open, honest and unrestrained dispute, which is not merely political” and noted the role of the media that “are continuously trying to analyze what is going on.”

New Cabinet to be focused on professional duties

President Victor Yushchenko is convinced the new Cabinet will be focused on its professional duties.

“First of all, these people will not be focused on politics but will be responsible for specific tasks of this or that ministry,” he said in an interview today.

The Head of State thinks the new government is the least politically engaged cabinet in Ukraine.

He said, “Ukraine finally has a chance to do powerful and positive things. If these newly-appointed ministers do not concern themselves with personal promotion, we will all see results of their work soon.”

Yushchenko-Timoshenko conflict discredits Ukraine

Mutual accusations of Orange revolution leader lead to discredit of government of Ukraine in the world and demoralize Ukrainian society.

It was declared by Zbigniew Brzezinski, former aid on the US national security, during the speech on the Ukraine mature statehood Forum in Washington, September 27.

He named the confrontation between Yushchenko and Timoshenko a suicide and called them to unite for the sake of the state’s future.

Participants of the Forum also discussed economic state of Ukraine and prospect of its membership in NATO and EU.

Rates of economic growth have reduced by four times. Anders Oslung, researcher of Carnegy Fund, named it incredible. The main reason of it is the total re-sale done by Yulia Timoshenko.

British expert James Sherr pointed out the necessity of complex reform inside governmental power of Ukraine. According to Sherr, Poroshenko’s activity as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council paralyzed power bodies.

Sherr subjected to criticism Ukrainian leadership for reluctance of proper explanatory campaign among Ukrainians concerning the advantages of NATO membership for Ukraine. In Sherr’s opinion, President of Ukraine makes a mistake thinking that NATO will promote itself among Ukrainian people.
