CEC registered 625 international observers

CEC registered 625 international observers

The Central Election Commission has registered other 625 official observers from international organizations and foreign governments.
The relevant decision was taken at the CEC meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.
In particular, the CEC has registered 10 observers from the international non-governmental organization on development of the electoral systems “For fair elections”, 19 from the international organization “European centre for geopolitical analysis”, 8 from the international public organization “Political initiative” and 10 from the international center of expertise for electoral systems (ICES).

EP to hear reports on Tymoshenko and Lutsenko on October 2

Former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski and ex-president of the European Parliament Pat Cox will report on the results of their work as observers at court proceedings on cases against former Ukrainian PM Yulia Tymoshenko and former interior minister of Ukraine Yuri Lutsenko on October 2 at the European Parliament session.
The report will be presented within the framework of the Conference of Presidents of the European Parliament with the participation of the EP President Martin Schulz and leaders of political groups, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
Kwasniewski and Cox were appointed as EP’s observers in the Tymoshenko case on June 11, 2012. Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and EP President Martin Schulz agreed on this during the meeting.
Later on, the tasks of their mission were expanded to observing the cases against Lutsenko and former acting defense minister of Ukraine Valeriy Ivaschenko, as well as monitoring of the preparations for the parliamentary election in Ukraine.

English may become regional language in Ukraine

MP Hennadiy Moskal registered in the Verkhovna Rada a draft law on amendments to Article 7 of the law of Ukraine on principles of national language policy on the comprehensive development of the English language.
The corresponding document was registered on September 28.
The document provides for including list English into the list of regional languages.
In particular, Moskal said that according to the law on principles of national language policy, “the state shall promote the development of multi-language environment, studying languages of international communication, especially those that are the official languages of the United Nations, UNESCO and other international organizations”.
Among the six official UN languages – Arabic, English, Spanish, Chinese, Russian and French. The most widespread ones in Ukraine are Russian and English.

Ukraine opens monitoring center for disease prevention

Ukraine will establish a national monitoring center for disease prevention, deputy Prime Minister, health minister Raisa Bohatyryova told a briefing in Ivano-Frankivsk region.

She said that the monitoring center for infectious and non-infectious diseases prevention will be established.

“We will create the national monitoring center, and offices will operate as small centers for preventive work and acceptance of our monitoring data in the regions. And the main office carrying a policy of monitoring and giving advice to central authorities and medical institutions will be created in Kyiv,” the minister noted.

Traffic police to deprive Kyiv debtors of cars

In Kyiv, cars of debtors on the wanted list will be evacuated to a special area or parking, the press service of the Kyiv traffic police department informs.
The relevant decision was taken at the joint meeting of the Traffic police Administration of Kyiv and the Justice Ministry state Enforcement Service department.
Mostly such are the cars whose owners do not pay a bank loan, owe a debt of rent, do not pay child support, etc.
In case of exposure of a vehicle of a debtor on the wanted list, the authorized official of the traffic police should temporarily detain a vehicle and take it to a special area or parking.
During three days, the traffic police should inform state enforcement officer of temporary arrest of the vehicle.
Return of a temporarily detained vehicle of a debtor, which is stored in a special area or park, shall be performed only at the request of the state enforcement officer.
The traffic police officials note that a car of a debtor is considered to be wanted only after a corresponding decision of the state enforcement officer.

Museum of Sewerage opens in Kyiv

On October 4, the Kyivvodocanal public utility will open the first Museum of Sewerage in Ukraine, the press service of the company informs.
The museum is to tell more than a century history of the sewerage system of the city from 1879 to the present day.
Museum exhibition is to present numerous showpieces of Kyiv sewage utilities: modern and old pipes, in particular a wooden one, which is about 200 years old, collectors sample, valves and pumps, hatches of different periods and models of pumping stations and machinery, as well as various tools for communications cleaning.

Rabies of a cow registered in Vinnytsia region

The case of rabies of a cow was registered in a private household in village Seferovka of Barsky district of Vinnytsia region, the Emergencies Ministry Vinnytsia regional department informs.
“It was registered that on September 25 the grazing behavior of the animal was aggressive – it rushed at other cows and a dog. The next day the cow was slaughtered and a carcass was sent for examination, which confirmed rabies of cow,” statement says.
People, who were in direct contact with the animal, were immunized. The SES and veterinary medicine staff take preventive measures in the village.

Defense Ministry: Army needs 22.8 billion of budget funds

The Armed Forces of Ukraine asked the state to budget 22.8 billion UAH, deputy defense dinister Volodymyr Mozharovsky told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

“During formation of the budget request for 2013, the President defined the conceptual tasks for the Defense Ministry regarding the establishment of combat-ready mobile army, and according to our calculations, the army needs 22.8 billion UAH,” he said.

Mozharovsky added that 18.7 billion UAH were allocated to the Defense Ministry by the decision of the Cabinet on April 5, 2012 regarding the budget forecast for 2013.
