Number of protesters in Mykhailivska Square rises up to ten thousands

More than ten thousand protesters against violent breaking up of the EuroMaidan action this night have gathered in the Mykhailivska Square as of 5:30, ForUm correspondent reports.
It is worth noting that activists created a self-defense center at the entrance to the Diplomatic Academy near the Mykhailivska Square.
In addition, warming centers, centers of hot food distribution and provision of information and consulting assistance operate.

Kyiv police chief assumes responsibility for EuroMaidan break-up

Order on the involvement of the officers of the “Berkut” special forces in breaking up EuroMaidan rally in the Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square was given by chief of Kyiv police department Valery Koryak. 
“I personally gave the order to involve “Berkut” officers,” he said.
However, according to him, the police were not set on aggression, and the EuroMaidan action was broken up because of provocateurs. “I assure you that the police were not set to use force and aggression. The situation was provoked,” he said.

Criminal proceedings opened over Berkut officers’ abuse of power

Criminal proceedings over abuse of authority by police on Saturday night in the Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square, Kyiv police chief Valery Koryak said.
At a briefing on Saturday, he said that the information on the events taken place in the Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square on Saturday night has been already entered in the Unified Register of pre-trial investigations.
“The information is entered into the register over hooliganism, resistance to police officers, and abuse of power,” he said.
Koryak stressed that actions of police officers will be assessed by the prosecutor’s office as well.

Cox: EU doors remain open for Ukraine

Despite the fact that the Ukrainian government decided to suspend the process of signing of the association agreement with the EU, Europe’s door remains open for Ukraine.
This was announced by former president of the European Parliament Pat Cox in comments to the BTB Ukrainian TV-channel.
“The Ukrainian government has taken a timeout, having suspended the signing of agreement. The summit participants took it into account in the conclusions. They also noted that Ukrainian society stands for European integration. European doors remain open,” he said.

Opposition leaders arrive in Mykhailivska Square

Leader of the All-Ukrainian Union “Batkivshchyna” Arseniy Yatseniuk, leader of the “UDAR” Party Vitali Klitschko and leader of the All-Ukrainian Union “Svoboda” Oleg Tyahnybok have arrived in the Mykhailivska Square in Kyiv, where supporters of European integration moved after breaking up of EuroMaidan, ForUm correspondent reports.
About eight thousand people stay in the square.
People have lined along the street, holding national flags and flags of the European Union. It should be noted that the action passes without party symbols.
There are no representatives of law enforcement agencies in the square.

An operational investigative group, involving prosecutor’s office employees, to give a qualified legal objective assessment of all parties to the conflict in Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square, was set up. 
“I am convinced that it will be done, as all actions, all events are documented. This group is tasked to conduct an investigation as soon as possible and give the public a clear answer: who, is guilty and what punishment he will have,” PM posted on his Facebook page.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov is deeply concerned and outraged by the ousting of protesters in the Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square, which took place last night.
“I am deeply concerned and outraged by events of last night, which took place in the Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square. The information from different sides, which I have at the moment, do not allow me making firm conclusions: who is responsible for this provocation,” PM posted on his Facebook page.

More than five thousand activists are in Mykhailivska Square

More than five thousand activists are in Mykhailivska Square

People continue to arrive in the Mykhailivska Square. Currently, there are more than five thousand people, ForUm correspondent reports.
It should be noted that the protesters have been joined by foreigners, in particular Poles and Georgians. Citizens of these countries are wrapped in national flags.
In addition, the sound equipment was brought to the square.
Kyiv residents bring the protesters food, two ambulances are on duty nearby.
Traffic near the square is complicated.
The situation is calm. There is no police near the cathedral and in the square.
