Andrey Yushchenko to appear before the court

Today Andrey Yushchenko has examined the administrative protocol on the infringement of traffic regulations and already signed it, Inna Kisel the press secretary of Interior Minister of Ukraine reported.

The trial has been appointed on Monday.

We remind that on Saturday Andrey Yushchenko, the son of President of Ukraine did not appear before Pechersk District Court of Kiev for a trial on infringement of traffic regulations.

Pechersk Court had to consider the protocol of administrative infringement signed by Yuri Lucenko Minister of Interior Affairs of Ukraine on air of TV channel. The court had to set the amount of the penalty in case if Yushchenko-junior’s guilt would have been be established.

According to the words of the journalists, the son of President of Ukraine did not appear before the court at the appointed time. Viktor Malinin, the judge was considering another trial in time which had been appointed in the protocol for Yushchenko-junior. However, the journalists pointed out the fact that

Yushchenko-junior’s administrative case did not demand the personal presence of the infringer of the law.

According to Criminal Code of Ukraine the protocol does not have legal force without private sign of the infringer of the law or the witnesses’ signs.  
Irina Gerashchenko, presidential press secretary stated during the phone conversation that she had no clue concerning the protocol’s destiny and strictly recommends the journalists "to finish this story."

Ukrainian Minister of Environment: Odessa disaster is under control

Pavel Ignatenko, Minister of Environment stated that the situation with oil spot in the Black Sea is under control.

"The main problem was the question of bathing prohibition in the sea and burning in the sun. But I was stated that the spot was captured and limited," added he.

There was an urgent consultation conducted concerning the disaster.   

We remind that there was an oil spot (200 square meters) discovered in the
Black Sea near Sychavka village Odessa region.

The Speaker of Verkhovna Rada to visit Russia

On Monday, Vladimir Litvin, the Chairman of Ukrainian Parliament will depart for Moscow with working visit, parliamentary press service reported.

The Speaker of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is to meet Vladimir Putin President of Russia, Sergey Mironov Chairman of Federal Assembly of Federation Council of Russia, the deputies of Russia parliament, the members of inter-Parliamentary Commission on Cooperation, Aleksiy II the Patriarch of All Russia.

The previous visit of Ukrainian Chairman was in June of current year. The visit was conducted within the frameworks of IX International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg.

System Capital Management unveils international corporate communications campaign aimed to promote Ukrainian business

System Capital Management (SCM) unveiled an international corporate communications campaign that will highlight the breadth and depth of the company’s assets as well as its commitment to Ukraine as it moves toward fuller integration with the global economy, ITnews reported.

Speaking at the press conference on July 27th, SCM General Director, Igor Prasolov said: "SCM is at the forefront of Ukraine’s effort to integrate our country into the European and international community. Today, we began a campaign that will put Ukraine and SCM’s story of rapid progress on to the world stage. We are letting people know that SCM is a substantial Ukrainian company with world-class management standards and global ambitions.

"This campaign is one of the means we will use to ensure that everybody in Ukraine, Europe and the United States has a better understanding of what we do and the importance of SCM and our region to the Ukraine economy."

The campaign, launched on 27th July during a press reception in Kiev, will begin with advertisements in publications including The Wall Street Journal, the Economist, the Financial Times, the Washington Post and Newsweek (beginning on 29th July 2005). The ads will also run in Ukraine media from 1st August 2005.

"We are excited about our role in promoting Ukraine’s business success. Our advertising and the company’s new web site – they capture the spirit and the drive that has made SCM one of Ukraine’s leading companies," Natalia Izosimova, SCM Director of Company Restructuring, said. "Importantly, the campaign is focused on the future, the future of our country and the future of the company."
 
The campaign also includes a television commercial that will run in Ukraine and European television from 22nd August.

The State Social Insurance Fund of Ukraine to strengthen control

During the revision, the State Social Insurance Fund of Ukraine found that Ukraine lost 334.1 million UAH ($66.82 million) due to violation of law done by enterprises in the field of insurance of their workers. Valery Yarushenko, the director of State Center of Employment reported about it.

The following violations were found out in the field social security: overdraft of pension payment – 29.3 thousand UAH; overdraft of maintenance costs – 22.8 million UAH and the overdrafts of wages and different services.  

The Fund made a resolution to send a request to Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of Ukraine in order to strengthen the control in the field of state of social insurance. The direction of the Fund was charged with the draft of changes in the acts of Ukraine concerning the issue by October 1, 2005.

Ukraine is ready to boost electric power exports to Moldova

Ukraine is ready to increase electric power exports to Moldova, Ukraine’s senior vice PM Anatoly Kinakh was quoted as saying after a meeting of a bilateral commission for commercial and economic cooperation. He said that Moldova was suffering a certain electric power shortage, for it produced enough energy to satisfy only 70 % of its needs. In Ukraine, on the contrary, the situation is favorable, especially so after two more units of nuclear power plants were put into service, RBC reported.

In addition, the parties agreed, that
Moldova would supply Ukraine with documentation for oil terminal construction in Giurgiulesti for environment impact assessment within a month.


Ukraine
exports electrical energy to Moldova together with Russia.

Shakhter VS Inter

Shakhter VS Inter

Ukrainian FC Shakhter (Donetsk) have been paired with two-time European champions FC Internazionale Milano following today’s third qualifying round draw in Nyon, Switzerland.

The tie was one of the highlights of the 16 ties that will take place over two legs on 9/10 and 23/24 August. Shakhter are the reigning champions from Ukraine while Inter won the Italian Cup and finished third in Serie A in 2004/05.

The first match will be played on Donetsk field.

The winner of the match "Dynamo-Kiev" (Ukraine) – "Tun" will meet the winner of the match "Malme" (Sweden) – "Makkabi" (Israel).

Ukraine backs 40 out of 93 agreements concerning CEA

The twenty second meeting of the High Level Group on formation of Common Economic Area was hold today in Minsk. (The agreement about CEA has been signed up by Russia, Byelorussia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan).

Ukraine is ready to support 40 out of 93 agreements of CEA package, as reported by the deputy Minister of Economics, Andrey Berezny.

"Ukraine needs CEA as a full-fledged zone of free trade, and Ukrainian side is ready to sign 15 out of 29 top-priority agreements and 25 out of 93 agreements of the package," said Berezny.

Deputy Minister considers that partial participation of Ukraine in agreement signing will not cause problems for CEA formation.

"We are close to joining WTO now, and our strength is directed to it. CEA is a long-term project for Ukraine," he pointed out.

In turn, Minister of Industry and Energy of Russia, Victor Khistenko, considers inappropriate to asserts that three countries persuade Ukraine to participate in CEA formation in full strength.

"The countries actively work over the documents. But each country has a right on its own position and opinion concerning this or that document," said Khistenko.

According to him, partial participation will not worsen the cooperation between the countries.
