Forum of national unity calls to unity and peace

Forum of national unity calls to unity and peace

Supporters of Party of Regions came to the Secretariat
of the President to hand him the address of the Forum of national unity, which
was announced in the European square earlier this day, but the President did
not meet them.

“Unfortunately, the President is out. Probably, he
went on business,” PR member Vasyl Kiselyov told journalists.

The official delegation of the party handed the Forum’s
address and other documents for the President – telegrams and letters of the
citizens – to Secretariat Chief of Staff Victor Baloha.

The address and letters call the President to preserve
peace and order in the country and to unite round national values.

Tymoshenko gathers Maydan again

Tymoshenko gathers Maydan again

The president of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko held a meeting with the representatives of the Joint opposition – Yulia Tymoshenko and Vyacheslav Kyrylenko and also with leader of “People self-defense” Yury Lutsenko. Tymoshenko told the journalists, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.

According to BYuT leader, the opposition representatives presented the President about 100 signatures of the leaders of parties and public organizations with request to sign a decree on parliament dismissal.

Tymoshenko considers that the question of country unity will be solved by elections “during which worthy parties will be elected”. It will create necessary ground for country unity and stability.

I am sure the President perceived our propositions and after our meeting there are more grounds to sign decree on parliament dismissal. Tymoshenko also noted that opposition will gather Maydan on March 31 after 05 pm. “We do so to people express their will to the President concerning early parliamentary elections,” she stressed.

Azarov is elected Chairman of CIS Economic Council

First Vice Prime Minister, Finance Minister Mykola Azarov, who is participating in the regular 33rd session of the CIS Economic Council in Moscow Friday, was elected Chairman of the CIS Economic Council. Representatives of Tajikistan and Azerbaijan were elected the co-chairs, “Cabinet press office” informs.

In December 2006 Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko determined Ukraine’s priority in the CIS as creating a free trade zone.

As Yushchenko has earlier stated, despite frustrating results of the CIS Summit, which was held in Minsk, Belarus, on November 28, 2006, Ukraine keeps on viewing the CIS as an efficient instrument of multilateral dialogue, especially in the economic dimension.

Cooperation between Ukraine and Russia should develop, Economy Minister believes

Cooperation between
Ukraine and Russia must develop, Ukrainian Economy Minister Anatoly Kinakh
believes. According to him, it is important not to lose cooperation we had, but
to improve it under conditions of equal competition, “Cabinet press office”
reported.

Kinakh stressed that in
2006 foreign trade turnover between Ukraine and the Russian Federation
increased by 13% and the negative balance reduced by 615 million UAH. He expressed
a hope that this positive trend will be preserved in 2007. As he went on, the
share of Russia in Ukraine’s foreign trade turnover amounts to 28%. Among
challenges of such cooperation he named customs regulation. “For instance,
mismatch of export-import operation notions, which makes problems in customs
execution,” he said.

President faces difficult choice

President faces difficult choice

Representatives of the committee of national salvation
intend to meet the President of Ukraine immediately. BYuT leader Yulia
Tymoshenko told Friday at a press conference.

“Now we are going to the President,” she said.

Tymoshenko noted that the committee plans to hand the President
its appeal to dismiss the Verkhovna Rada. BYuT leader expressed a hope that
Yushchenko will make a corresponding decision on early parliamentary elections.

In her turn, the coalition leader Raisa Bogatyryova
declares that the opposition unfairly incites the President to dismissal of the
parliament.

“The opposition acts out of the law and does not
believe in supremacy of law; it does not respect democracy, but loves only
itself and forces to serve it,” Bogatyryova told at the Forum of national
unity, which is being held in European square today.

Addressing all comers the leader of the Party of
Regions faction said that “we must not let anyone to split the country and turn
back black crisis…we must protect the President from pressure.”

Peking to share experience with Ukraine

Today in the scope of the official visit to People’s Republic China the VR speaker Olexander Moroz met with the Mayor of Peking Van Zishan.

According to the press service of the VRU, during the meeting Moroz gave high appraisal to management experience of such mega polis like Peking and noted the necessity of cultural cooperation between capitals of two countries.

In the scope of the meetings the matter concerned establishment of more tight relations between the countries.

Moroz also noted that it is possible that in 2012 football championship will be held in Ukraine. So he expressed a wish that Peking would share experience on arrangement of such actions (in 2008 Olympic Games will take place in Peking).

In turn the Peking mayor supported Moroz concerning development of interregional relations and scientific-technical, educational and cultural relations between the capitals. He also thanked Ukraine for support of the application of PRC on conduct Olympic games 2008 in Peking.

The Peking mayor also express readiness to share arrangement experience of Olympiad-2008 . Moroz invited Zishan to Kyiv.

BYuT asks CC to speed up consideration

BYuT asks CC to speed up consideration

Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko intends to appeal to the Constitutional
Court of Ukraine with a request to speed up consideration of the question on
function of the imperative mandate and on President’s right to dismiss the
parliament on the ground of Article 90 of the Constitution of Ukraine.

Tymoshenko told Friday at a session of the committee
of national salvation.

The BYuT leader noted that instead of reacting to
disorders in the country the Constitutional Court “hid under stones and is
afraid to raise head to make necessary decision.”

Tymoshenko also noted that both speaker Moroz and
Premier Yanukovych must address the Court on this question “if they want honesty
and justice in the power.”

Taylor gave Ukrainian politicians advice

The USA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine William Taylor advises the Ukrainian politicians to solve confrontations by means of negotiations. He told today in Kyiv.

“We consider the Ukrainian power should be careful in observance of the Constitution,” Taylor said.

He noted that it is necessary to obey the Ukraine’s legislation to solve the current situation peacefully.

He is convinced it is necessary to hold negotiations.
