President calls upon Ukrainian people to take part in discussion of the new Constitution

President Victor Yushchenko called on Ukrainian society to actively participate in the discussion and shaping the new Constitution of Ukraine.

“I urge every Ukrainian: if you would like your children live in better Ukraine, I am convinced, your civic duty is to stand next to the President and to the bona fide democratic politicians, who want to shape the basic national law through democratic public debate “, he told a press conference in Kiev, calling on journalists to contribute to this process.

“I ask you to treat this request as priority number one”, he said.

Victor Yushchenko said that if the Constitution is not improved now, the nation would lose the opportunity to continue building a democratic Ukraine: “In next 10-15 years we will not have such an opportunity.

Ukrainian President asked Ukrainian people to “abandon hope that someone will do it for us.” “Let us not trust politicians. Let us shape the future by ourselves “, he said.

One Response to “President calls upon Ukrainian people to take part in discussion of the new Constitution”

  1. Do not trust politicians and most of all

    DO NOT TRUST YUSHCHENKO

Yushchenko lies about his constitutional reform. It is not democratic, Yushchenko’s proposed reforms would see Ukraine reinstate Presidential autocracy where the President would have absolute power and absolute control over the Courts, the government and the parliament. There will be no check and balances.

Yushchenko’s proposed senate is not democratic. It gives undue power and influence to Western Ukraine at the expense of Eastern and Southern Region.

Yushchenko can not legally implement his reform proposals without the support of two thirds of the Ukrainian parliament. Support he will not receive.

Yushchenko is not about supporting democratic values or implementing democratic reform. If he was he would be supporting Ukraine adopting a European parliamentary system of governance and abandoning the failed Presidential system.

25 out of 27 EU states are Parliamentary democracies.

If Ukraine wants to become a part of the EU then it should be adopting EU models not Soviet/US models.

Yushchenko is the greatest threat to democracy and unity of Ukraine. He is a failed President whose policies and actions have divided Ukraine not united it. His proposed reforms if ever implemented would further divide Ukraine.

BE WARNED – BE SERIOUSLY CONCERNED AND PRAY THAT YUSHCHENKO DOES NOT PREVAIL AND IS NOT RE-ELECTED TO A SECOND TERM OF OFFICE. FIVE MORE YEARS OF YUSHCHENKO WILL BREAK UKRAINE.
