Ukrainian-Chinese cooperation agreements reached in China start turning into practical actions.
A modern plant for production of up-to-date rechargeable and lithium-ion batteries of all types will become the first joint development project with China, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.
The plant will be built by a Chinese company Lishen Battery in the Dnipropetrovsk region. At the same time, a major domestic manufacturer of batteries corporation Vesta may become the Ukrainian partner of the project. The battery plant will cost around 350 million USD.
A number of necessary preparations is almost completed. The investment project is ready, the environmental construction plan has been approved. It envisions construction of a modern closed cycle disposal shop for  recycling of batteries. The enterprise will process all components of batteries, including electrolyte which is regularly emitted in the environment in the amount of 20 tons annually.
Experts say that the talks with Chinese banks to provide a credit line in the amount of 350 million USD under the state guarantees of the Ukrainian Government for construction of the plant are in the final stage.
Analysts point out that special lead-acid batteries are required for modern closed cycle production of electronic equipment. China, and  Lishen Battery is one of the world leaders in the production of these batteries. The company ranks among the top ten global manufacturers of lithium batteries (6% market share) with annual revenues of approximately 295 million USD.
At the same time, experts emphasize that the choice of location of the plant at Dnipropetrovsk is not accidental. After all, Dnipropetrovsk is the center of Ukrainian battery industry, and over 75% of the products are exported to 40 countries of the world.
