The Cabinet of Ministers adopted the decree “On decline in natural gas prices”, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuri Boiko told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.
According to him, at today’s meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers there was adopted a resolution providing for the reduction in the price for natural gas since 1January 2014 for state-run institutions to 2448 UAH per 1 thousand cubic meters, excluding VAT.
In addition, the decree provides for quarterly decline in gas prices for industry. So, Boiko said that in the first quarter the price per 1 thousand cubic meters will be 3113 UAH, in the second – 2752 UAH, the third – 2600 UAH and fourth – 2502 UAH.
“This decision is a direct consequence of the arrangements between our President and the President of the Russian Federation on lowering the Russian gas price,” he said.
According to him, reducing the cost of gas for industry will lead to increased competitiveness, increased demand and lower product prices. “The total gas cost reduction will save for Ukraine 12 billion UAH in the budget year, and about 10 billion UAH for the industry. That is, we will save $ 3 billion next year by reducing price for gas, supplied by the Russian Federation,” he concluded.
