Yanukovych proposes sending 300 peacekeepers to Congo

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has introduced a bill in parliament on the approval of the Ukrainian president’s decision to send peacekeeping troops for Ukraine’s participation in the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo, reads a statement posted on the Web site of the Verkhovna Rada.
A respective bill was tabled in Parliament on Wednesday.
According to the explanatory note to the bill, it was drafted to ensure the legal registration of presidential decree No. 515 of September 17, 2013 on the sending of a national contingent for Ukraine’s participation in the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Interfax-Ukraine reported.
The decree notes that a national contingent of up to 300 troops is sent to Congo in the terms defined by the UN Security Council.

EU to discuss Association with Ukraine after elections in Germany

Leaders of the European Union will gather and discuss the future of the Association Agreement with Ukraine after the federal elections in Germany, minister for European affairs of the United Kingdom David Lidington stated.
“When the EU leaders will come together, I think it will be after the federal elections in Germany, they will decide whether Ukraine reaches enough in the sphere of political reform and the rule of law,” Lidington said.
At the same time, the British minister added that Ukraine has no new conditions for the signing of the Agreement.
According to him, these terms were clearly established by the Council of EU foreign ministers in December, 2012.

Incomes and Fees Ministry to agree its positions with European

Incomes and fees minister Oleksandr Klymenko named the main provisions that his Ministry should bring in line with the European standards in the context of the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, he told reporters after the government’s meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.
In particular, according to him, it is necessary to work on excise tax on tobacco and alcohol.
According to the minister, when developing the Association Agreement, it was noted that the rate of customs examination should not exceed 5%.
“As a result of 2013, it amounts to 3.3%,” he said.

Ukrainian agricultural export to EU grows by 16%

After the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, the domestic agricultural products can be purchased by more than 500 million of the most creditworthy consumers in the world, agrarian policy and food minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk stated.
“For six months, the agricultural products worth 2.6 billion dollars were supplied to the EU. Grain and oil seeds and sunflower oil were exported most of all. However, after the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU, the range of agricultural products and their volumes will be significantly expanded. After all, about 500 million Europeans will buy Ukrainian agricultural products,” the minister said.
According to Prysiazhniuk, after the signing of the Association Agreement, the food prices will not increase. But the Ukrainian company will get access to the internal market of the EU.

Premier admits periodic review of Association Agreement

The Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union provides for the possibility of its periodic review, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said, opening the government’s meeting.
“It is important that the Association Agreement is not a dogma. It provides for the possibility of its periodic revision. This is an equitable international agreement at the highest level, a political dialogue and a dialogue in other areas will take place at the highest level, where Ukraine is represented by the President, and the EU by the President of the European Council and the European Commission,” the head of government noted.
He added that the implementation of the Agreement will involve public organizations and citizens.

Klymenko: Draft law on universal income declaration almost ready

The draft law on universal declaration of incomes will be submitted for public review this year, incomes and fees minister Oleksandr Klymenko said after the Cabinet’s meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.
“We plan to make it public in the near future. I am sure it will be this year,” the minister stressed.
According to him, the work on this bill has been almost completed. Meanwhile, the Ministry does not intend to speed up this process.
It should be noted that this bill is developed by specialists from England, the Czech Republic, Poland, Canada and Australia, these are the world experts who provide the Incomes and Fees Ministry with consulting service.

Government points at pros of European integration

The Cabinet of Ministers will consider the action plan to raise the awareness of Ukrainian about the European integration, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said, opening the government’s meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.
“Today we will consider the action plan aimed at raising the awareness of citizens of Ukraine about peculiarities of the process of integration into the European political, economic and legal environment, particularly, in the context of implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU,” Azarov said.
According to him, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych stands for complete implementation of the European standards in Ukraine, particularly in sphere of granting services.

Klymenko: Ukraine not bears big losses due to customs problems with Russia

As of today, the Incomes and Fees Ministry does not see significant economic losses from complex trade relations between Ukraine and Russia, minister Oleksandr Klymenko said after the Cabinet’s meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.
“Today it is too early to talk about the losses resulted from the situation observed in August as the results of income tax declaration we will see only next year. As for the declaration of value-added tax, I mean exports and claims for refund, we do not see a sharp fall on these indicators today,” he said.
According to Klymenko, trade problems with Russia have caused more talks than actual economic problems. “We do not see sharp falls in the declarations,” the minister said.
