Cabinet has supported reduction of export duties for cattle

At the session of August 21 the government of Ukraine supported the initiative of the Agrarian Ministry to reduce export duties for cattle from 25% to 5%.

“Due to high export duties producers were not interested in exporting their products. Purchasing prices for beef at domestic market does not cover the expense for production, thus producers lose interest in production. Now the situation may change,” minister Prysiazhniuk said.

According to him, beef may become one of the main export productions in the future. “I am convinced that the reduction export duty will increase the economic interest in production and export of beef,” the minister said.

According to the customs services, export of cattle livestock from Ukraine reduced by 31% in 2012 – to $4.82 million (932 tons), while import increased by 31.1% – to $7.97 million (1792 tons).
