Health Ministry lacks funds for vaccines

The state budget of Ukraine lacks money to fully fund the purchase of vaccines for planned immunization, deputy health minister Oleksandr Tolstanov told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.
“We can not buy all the necessary vaccine for budgetary funds,” he said.
Tolstanov noted that 465.9 million UAH are needed for purchase of immunological drugs.
“Budget funding in 2012 amounted to 302.1 million UAH, ie 72.9% of the actual need for 414.4 million UAH. In 2013 the percentage is even lower – 65%,” he said.
Thus, the official said, the amount of public funding in the current year has remained at the level of 2012, and the need for vaccines has increased significantly.

Russian food stuffs burnt near Russian embassy in Kyiv

Several dozen members of the Nastup pan-Ukrainian committee have gathered in front of the Russian Embassy in Kyiv to protest Russia’s ban on Ukrainian imports, Interfax reports.
Nastup Chairman Ruslan Setela said that in the absence of a reaction from the Ukrainian government and from leading political forces, the public must have its say. “All of the leading political players and the public must react. We propose that Russian goods be boycotted. This is something every Ukrainian can do,” Setela said.
The demonstrators said they are not opposed to the Russian people with whom good-neighborly relations must be maintained.
Protestors burnt Russian food stuffs bought in Kyiv, including a packet of tea and a stick of Russian chocolate.
The activists urged the Ukrainian government to respond appropriately to Russia’s conduct and to ban Russian imports.

President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych discussed in a telephone conversation with his Russian colleague bilateral cooperation, including customs clearance of goods at the Ukrainian-Russian border, press service of the Kremlin informs.
“A telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych was held. The presidents discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation, including matters relating to customs clearance at the Russian-Ukrainian border,” statement reads.

Ukrainian border guards: Melnyk not detained at Belarusian border

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine denies information of media about the arrest of ex-rector of the National University of State Tax Service Petro Melnyk in Belarus and his transfer to Ukraine, ForUm correspondent learned from the border Service press office.
“Information about Melnyk’s detention by the Belarusian border guards is unreliable,” the press service said. 
Earlier, «Gazeta.ua» wrote that internationally wanted former rector of the Tax Academy Petro Melnyk went to Belarus.

Brussels calls Kyiv, Moscow settle trade dispute

The European Commission calls on Ukraine and Russia to resolve the trade dispute in accordance with the rules and obligations of the World Trade Organization as soon as possible.
The corresponding position of the European Commission was announced by representative of the EC on trade John Clancy.
“The European Commission calls on both sides to find a quick solution to the problem and emphasizes the need for the parties to work together and resolve the trade issue in the full respect of the rules and the commitments made in the WTO,” he said.

Cabinet approves bill on principles of regional policy

At the last meeting the government passed the draft Law on principles of regional policy, as provided for in the EU-Ukraine Association Agenda, the updated version of which was approved at the sixteenth meeting of the EU-Ukraine Cooperation Council in Luxembourg June 24, 2013.
“The draft law defines the legal, economic and organizational framework of development and implementation of regional policy,” director of the regional policy department of the Economic Development Ministry Olena Nizhnyk said.
The draft law stipulates that the state’s regional policy is a system of goals, activities, resources and coordinated actions of central and local executive authorities, local self-government to ensure a high level of quality of life of people all over Ukraine.
The adoption of the bill will introduce a systematic approach to the formulation and implementation of regional policy, will ensure the effective management of the process of regional development and will improve the quality of life in regions.
