FM: Association to unite power and opposition

The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine hopes that the Association Agreement with the European Union will be signed, the Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Voloshyn said during discussion “Central Europe: supporting Ukraine’s European integration”, ForUm correspondent reports.
“We hope that we will be able to convince skeptics that the Agreement should be signed,” he said.
Voloshyn also said that until recently there have been talks that agreement may not be signed.

“Today there is no monolithic position of the 27 EU members that there is no need of the Agreement, there is much debate and it is an achievement,” he said.
Foreign Ministry spokesman is sure that Ukraine will be able to prove the necessity of signing the Association Agreement to both itself and the EU.
According to him, the deeper the relations between Ukraine and the EU will be, the more perfect will be a democratic system in our country, regardless of who is in power. “The whole country needs it, not just Yanukovych, Hryshchenko or the government. Opposition also needs it and the millions of Ukrainians as well… This issue should unite power and opposition,” Voloshyn summed up.

Ukraine’s FM: EU visas may be cancelled before association signing

The European Union may introduce visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens before the signing of the Association Agreement, the Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Voloshyn said during discussion “Central Europe: supporting Ukraine’s European integration”, ForUm correspondent reports.
“The visa-free regime could be introduced before the Association Agreement signing and, on the contrary, the agreement could be signed before introduction,” he said.
According to him, the introduction of visa-free regime and the Association Agreement are two parallel processes. “Cancellation of visas for Ukrainians has been never tied to the Association Agreement and vice versa. These are two parallel processes,” Voloshyn said.
He recalled that Ukraine should fulfill its commitments to obtain visa-free regime with the EU. “There is a clear set of requirements, which we must meet, in particular, to introduce biometric passports. We’re working on it,” Voloshyn summed up.

Kaskiv also did not rule out that the mass attempts to discredit the project will begin.
“We are ready for this, because let’s face it – this project is changing the energy map of the whole region,” the head of State Agency for Investment and National Projects said.
