Mahera: CEC may not finish vote recounting by summer

If Central Election Commission is engaged into recount of votes at all stations, this process may last till summer, deputy CEC head Andriy Mahera told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

“Depending on the category, recounting of votes at one station takes 3 hours minimum and 10 hours maximum. If CEC starts recounting votes at all 10 districts, we will hardly finish by summer. Be critical about it,” he noted.

According to Mahera, CEC does not have direct powers to hold repeated vote counting. “In certain cases CEC may be involved into vote counting within a district, but the issue is not on the table for the moment. CEC may take responsibility for vote counting only if a district election commission is totally incapable to do the job,” the official added.
