State social policy is aimed at improving living standards, Yanukovych says

State social policy is aimed at improving living standards. It was stated by the President at the meeting with administrative and economic group of Luhansk region, ForUm learned from the president’s press office.

The Head of State particularly noted that in 2012 the level of wages grew by 15%. “We can stop this process neither in 2013, nor in 2014,” Viktor Yanukovych emphasized.

The President also drew attention to the importance of providing high quality education for children in schools and pre-school facilities and modernization of schools. He particularly mentioned that in 2012 49 kindergartens were opened in Luhansk region. “The number of pre-school facilities must be increased and children must receive education in decent conditions,” Viktor Yanukovych said.

The President also noted that health care system reformation would remain one of the priorities for the government.

President: Building of plants producing synthetic gas is to begin in 2013

The construction of five plants producing synthetic gas is to begin in 2013, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych stated in the course of communication with media representatives in Luhansk, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.

The Head of State noted that 3.5 billion USD would be attracted in the form of investments in order to implement this project. According to the President, respective decision had been made in the course of his state visit to China in 2010. “As the result of our joint work with Chinese partners we’ve decided to allocate 3.5 billion USD for this program,” he said.

According to the President, 2 of 5 plants will be built in Luhansk region. “All the documents were drawn up and now there is a designing period,” he said.

FM: Visas for international observers will be granted free of charge

FM: Visas for international observers will be granted free of charge

International observers, who will come to Ukraine for parliamentary elections, will be granted free of charge visas, Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Voloshyn told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.
 
“All international observers will pass customs and passport controls under simplified procedure,” he added. According to Voloshyn, such procedure will help to avoid long lines in Ukrainian airports.
 
“I want to remind you that this is not ten or hundred observers, but several thousands,” FM spokesman noted.
 
Voloshyn also informed that the Foreign Ministry initiated the creation of special information stands in main terminals of Boryspol airport to assist observers in cooperation with the OSCE Bureau of democratic institutions on human rights and other missions.

“Moreover, we have launched a hot line for observers and maintain working contacts with heads of all missions,” Voloshyn added.

Ukrainians abroad may vote at 116 polling stations

451.161 Ukrainian, who permanently or temporarily live abroad legally have been included into state register of voters, the Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Voloshyn told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

“We are working hard to make up, revise and submit updated lists to the foreign diplomatic missions until October 25,” Voloshyn said.

According to him, the Foreign Ministry established 116 polling stations in 77 countries.
“As of today, there were no comments from the CEC, the participants of the electoral process relating to overseas polling,” the official concluded.

Head of EU Delegation: Ukraine has no censure

Head of the European Union Delegation to Ukraine Ian Tombinsky believes that Ukraine has no censure, he told a press conference in Kyiv.

“I have spent very little time in Ukraine to conclude that Ukraine has no independent media. As of today, I can say that Ukraine has no censure and has a complete freedom of expression,” he said.

At the same time, he noted that one can say whatever he wants on Youtube, but this is not the same as access to the state television and other media. Tombinsky is convinced that television should be used as a primary means to teach people.

FM not to make tragedy of EU-Ukraine summit date

FM not to make tragedy of EU-Ukraine summit date

The date of the EU-Ukraine summit is unknown, the Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Voloshyn told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.
“Its holding provides for the current agreement on partnership and cooperation between Ukraine and the EU. The summit should be an annual event, the exact date will depend on formation of authorities following the parliamentary elections. Summit is not just the meeting of the President with the EU representatives, but also a great dialogue between all the  institutions,” he said.
 
Voloshyn said that for Ukraine is more important not the fact of the summit, but its content, in particular the signing of the Association Agreement, including FTA.
In addition, the diplomat said that Christmas holidays start in Europe in mid-December. “If we manage before this period (to hold the summit. – Ed.) it will be good, but if not – it is a purely technical matter, from which no one will make the tragedy,” Voloshyn summed up.

Yanukovych: Export coal prices are low

President Viktor Yanukovych believes that foreign partner companies offer low prices for coal produced in Ukraine.
“We have over-production of coal. We need to sell three million tons. Coal prices offered by foreign companies do not comply with our interests, they are unprofitable for us,” Yanukovych said during visit to Luhansk.
He also added that Ukraine this year will produce about 82 million tons of coal.

21 Ukrainian return home from Syria today

Today, 21 citizens of Ukraine arrive at 19.50 in the airport “Boryspil” from the Syrian cities of Aleppo and Damascus, spokesman of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Oleksandr Dikusarov told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

“This flight is not directly from Syria, but from Beirut, as Syria has a complicated situation now. Therefore, we studied the ways of citizens evacuation through other countries,” he noted.

Dikusarov said that representatives of the Foreign Ministry, Emergencies Ministry and International Organization for Migration will meet the Ukrainians at the airport.

He recalled that from the beginning of the year, over 400 people including 40 foreigners were evacuated from Syria to Ukraine.
