President: Ukraine and Thailand have great potential to develop bilateral relations

Ukraine and Thailand have a great potential to develop bilateral relations that must be used in order to enhance constructive cooperation between the countries. It was stated by the President in the course of the meeting with Minister of Defense of Thailand Sukampol Suwannathat.

“The beginning of these relations is quite optimistic and I hope that we will further develop them,” the President said.

The Head of State expressed confidence that the visit of Sukampol Suwannathat would also facilitate political dialogue between the two states.

The President also conveyed to the Prime Minister of Thailand an invitation to visit Ukraine.

Vintage cars exhibition opens in Kyiv today

Today, on October 12, opened the sixth exhibition of vintage and exclusive cars “Retro and Exotic Motor Show” has opened in Kyiv. It will last for three days, till October 14. About 60 cars are exhibited in the hall and up to 100 cars – in the open air exhibition center.
The age of the “adult” items is up to 75 years. The new items automakers – American muscle-cars of 2012 release are exhibited as well.
 
“The show of the season is devoted to American cars, some of which are almost impossible to buy today, they have long been in private collections. We managed to collect about 20 samples of the American auto industry from various periods, including muscle car with a characteristic bright “appearance”, powerful engines. The authentic retro cars produced in other countries will also be showed,” director of the exhibition” Retro and Exotic Motor Show” Natalia Horeva said.

Tymoshenko refuses to participate in UESU case trial for ninth time

Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has for the ninth time refused to participate in a hearing of the case of the United Energy Systems of Ukraine (UESU) Corporation in Kharkiv October 15, the press office of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine has reported.
“The leadership of Kachanivska Penal Colony No. 54 has received a request from the Kyivsky District Court of Kharkiv to invite prisoner Tymoshenko to participate in the court hearing scheduled for October 15. The prisoner was informed of the receipt of the request. In response, Tymoshenko informed the leadership of the institution in writing about her refusal to participate in the court session,” the press office said on Friday.
The report says that this was Tymoshenko’s ninth consecutive refusal to attend courts hearings on the UESU case in Kharkiv.
The court was informed in writing about the prisoner’s refusal to participate in the hearing.

Prime Minister Mykola Azarov urges Ukrainians to be active and come to the parliamentary elections on 28 October.

“I want to appeal to our people with a request to come to the polls and give your vote, be active.

We are interested in your activity. For us, it will be the evaluation of our work,” Azarov said in the interview with Mykolayiv regional state broadcasting company.

Ukraine included in UPU governing bodies

Ukraine became the member of the two governing bodies of the Universal Postal Union for the period 2013-2016 – Governing Body and the Postal Operations Council, Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine press service informed on October 12.

According to the Ministry, the elections to the departments on October 10 of this year, during the Doha Congress.
In total, the Council of Administration and Postal Operations Council this year includes 40 countries.
The Universal Postal Union (UPU) is the specialized agency that regulates international postal services. Among its main objectives is promoting global postal services, growth of mail through the introduction of modern forms of postal products and services that improve the quality of postal service customers.

Police charged to guard observers

Representatives of the Department of Internal Affairs will ensure the safety of observers at the polling stations, deputy interior minister Viktor Ratushnyak told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

According to Ratushnyak, now the meetings are being held between the law enforcement agencies and observers. “Such meetings have been already carried out in 18 regions. 80 official observers participated in it,” the Internal Ministry summed up.

As a reminder, as of October 11, the CEC registered 1.188 international observers from 13 countries and 23 international organizations.

CEC security to be tightened on Election Day

The Internal Ministry of Ukraine will tighten the security of the Central Election Commission on the Election Day, deputy interior minister Viktor Ratushnyak told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

“We will strengthen the security of the CEC to ensure the necessary rule of law,” he said.

According to him, the security of all buildings of government authorities will be tightened.

As a reminder, the parliamentary elections in Ukraine are scheduled for October 28.

Police mostly receive complaints about illegal campaigning

The police mostly receive complaints about violations of the electoral process connected with illegal campaigning, deputy interior minister Viktor Ratushnyak told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

In addition, Ratushnyak noted that from July 30 to October 12, the police received information about vote buying (136), theft (68), physical intimidation (47), violation of the election laws (37) and infliction of bodily injury (19).

According to him, the highest number of violations during the electoral process has been registered in Kyiv region (395), in Vinnytsya – 204 and in Kyiv – 196.

Ratushnyak stressed that from the beginning of the election process, the Internal Affairs have received more than 2.300 reports on violations.
