Agriculture Ministry wants to revive consumer cooperatives in villages

Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine proposes to revive consumer cooperatives in villages, first deputy minister of agrarian policy Ivan Bisyuk said, ForUm correspondent reports.

According to him, two years ago, the President instructed the Ministry to take steps to ensure rural people with real money. “We have to buy not only food, but also manufactured goods,” he said.

According to Bisyuk, with this purpose, the villages can recreate agricultural cooperatives. He also noted that wages in the agricultural sector should be at the level of average Ukrainian salary.

Khoroshkovsky considers adoption of defamation law to be premature

First vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Valeriy Khoroshkovsky considers the introduction of the law on criminal libel to be premature.

According to him, Ukraine can not take such a strict law, as the country has no confidence in the courts.

“This is my personal opinion. I believe that as of today, it is just too early and maybe unacceptable in such way,” the official stressed.

Yanukovych urges respond to problems of local residents

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych instructed the heads of local governments to respond to the problems of the local residents.
“People are equal, and want to live in equal conditions – either they live in villages or in towns. When we talk about healthcare, it must be on the same level as in the city. When we talk about education, about children – it must be of equal quality. Thank God, we are going to complete the School Bus program. A few areas with insufficient number of buses are left and we will resolve that problem in the near future,” President said at the meeting of the Council of Regions, ForUm correspondent reports.
He also praised the government’s policy for improving the purchasing prices of milk.

Court obliged Cabinet to pay 400 million dollar of UESU debt

Kyiv Commercial Court partially fulfilled a demand of the Russian Defense Ministry to the Cabinet on the debt of corporation “United Energy Systems of Ukraine” and obliged the government of Ukraine to pay Russia three billion 113 million 53 thousand 506 UAH 26 kopecks (about 390 million dollar).

The court has announced the appropriate decision today.

“The court has decided to partially fulfill a demand of the Russian Defense Ministry to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and obliged the government of Ukraine to pay 3 billion 113 million 53 thousand 506 UAH 26 kopecks. And it has refused all other claims,” judge Anatoly Ivchenko read out the decision.

The judge stressed that the court decision will come into force, if there is no appeal petition. If such appeal is considered, it will enter into force after the decision of the appeal court.

Yanukovych demands from local authorities to contribute to work of international observers

President Viktor Yanukovych demands from local authorities to contribute to the effective work of international observers during the parliamentary election and stressed that Ukraine is ready to hold fair elections.

“As of today, 464 official observers from foreign states and international organizations were registered, so I address the regional authorities – contribute to their work,” President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych said at the meeting of the Council of Regions, ForUm correspondent reports.
The President also promised that he would personally make efforts to ensure that the observers do not face obstacles in the work and expressed confidence that the law enforcement authorities will timely react to the violations when they occur.
President is sure that video monitoring system will ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
In addition, Yanukovych added that mixed electoral system resumes quality dialogue between people and authorities.
According to him, such a system promotes the role of NGOs and bodies of self government.

Yanukovych: Elections are not a sport, but will expression of citizens

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych urged officials not to abuse administrative resources during the election campaign, he said at a meeting of the Council of Regions, ForUm correspondent reports.

“I would like to warn again all officials at all levels that interference in the electoral process is a violation of the law, and we will check every such fact,” he said.

He recalled that the last presidential election was recognized by the international community and received positive evaluations. “This election should not be worse,” Yanukovych noted.

The President also called officials to respect the will expression of all citizens. “The elections are not a sport, but the will of the citizens and people as the ultimate source of power. We should not divide voters in political categories. They are all the same,” Yanukovych summed up.

As a reminder, the parliamentary elections in Ukraine are scheduled for October 28.

Ukraine and Japan to cooperate in the field of education

Ukraine and Japan to cooperate in the field of education

Ukraine and Japan will cooperate in the field of education, the press service of the Education and Science, Youth and Sports Ministry reported.

A relevant memorandum of cooperation between the Education Ministry of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan was signed on September 18.

Parties, in particular, intend to strengthen cooperation in the exchange of students increasing a number of such students, collaborate in the preparation of textbooks and promote cooperation in research projects and their funding.

First deputy minister of education and science, youth and sports Yevhen Sulima stressed the importance of the arrangements on mutual recognition of diplomas at the state level by two countries.

First deputy minister of education, culture, sports, science and technology of Japan Miho Takai, in turn, thanked her colleague for effective cooperation in the field of higher education expressing confidence that signing of the memorandum will contribute to further strengthening of cooperation between the countries.

According to the Education Ministry, as of today, the Japanese language is taught in 12 Ukrainian universities.
