President takes part in opening new sulphuric acid production line at PJSC Crimean TITAN

In the framework of his today’s working visit to Crimea, President Viktor Yanukovych took part in the opening of a new sulfuric acid production line at PJSC Crimean TITAN located in Armyansk.

The President said the opening of the plant is an important event not only for the region, but also for the economy of Ukraine as a whole, particularly because it would produce highly competitive goods for the domestic and foreign markets, and create more jobs.

“The state needs such investment projects to boost economic growth and improve people’s lives. Where there is innovation, productivity and product quality grows. And most importantly, wages and welfare of people increase,” said Viktor Yanukovych.

After the ceremony the President toured the enterprise, which is a good example of effective investment attraction strategies into the development of Ukrainian chemical industry.

Parliament adopting laws despite blocking of the rostrum by opposition

After the report by the Security Service of Ukraine on events in Dnipropetrovs’k the parliament passed to the agenda, ForUm correspondent reports.

In particular, the MPs are considering ratification of international agreements.

The presidium of the parliament is still being blocked by opposition MPs, but vice speaker Adam Martyniuk is holding the session from a deputy’s seat.

The MPs have already adopted the law “On ratification of intergovernmental agreement with Japan on cooperation in overcoming aftermaths of emergency situations at NPP,” with 267 votes in favour.

SBU: Introduction of state of emergency is not on the table

The first deputy head of the Security Service of Ukraine Volodymyr Rokitski reported to the parliament about the events, which took place today in Dnipropetrovs’k, ForUm correspondent reports.

According to the official, four explosive devices were put in garbage bins along the route of tram #1. 25 people were injured, one person is in grave conditions.

Rokitski specified that the question of introduction of the state of emergency is not under consideration. At the same time the official refused to voice out the investigative versions of the events. “Give us time, we are working,” Rokitski said.

He also noted that for the moment  no demands or threats from identified or unidentified individuals had been received by law enforcement agencies.

The official neither confirmed nor denied information about detained suspects on the case.
In his turn, deputy interior minister Viktor Ratushniak declared that the police are establishing the motives of perpetrators.

Tymoshenko not able to head electoral list – Lavrynovych

The law does not allow ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko heading the electoral list of the political party, since she is a convicted person.

Justice Minister Oleksandr Lavrynovych told journalists by the end of an extended meeting of the government on Friday, UKRINFORM reports.

“This list, which will be sent to the Central Election Commission for registration of candidates to people’s deputies, can include only persons, who meet constitutional requirements. Persons, having an outstanding conviction cannot be candidates for people’s deputies” Lavrynovych has said.

He noted that current lists, made public in mass media, could not be considered as official.

Police of Ukraine’s large cities is on alert

By order of Interior Minister of Ukraine Vitaly Zakharchenko the police departments of regional and large cities of Ukraine has been put on alert.

Policemen with bomb-disposal experts are carrying out a complex of measures to investigate into the bomb attacks, in particular the law enforcement forces are checking attics and basements of buildings and public places in order to reveal other possible explosive devices.

According to the Interior Ministry spokesman Volodymyr Polishchuk, the internal troops have been put on alert as well. The official also informed that the situation in the city in under control.

Emergencies Ministry: Total of 27 people injured in series of blasts in Dnipropetrovs’k

Emergencies Ministry reported about 27 injured people in the result of the series of blasts in public places of Dnipropetrovs’k. 25 people were hospitalized and 2 refused medical assistance.

13 people were injured in the explosion at a tram stop. 11 people, including 9 children, were injured in the blast near “Rodina” cinema. All of them hospitalized.

Three people were injured in the third explosion in the public park “Globy”. Only one was hospitalized.
Information about the fourth attack has not been revealed yet.

1.5 million Ukrainians working in insanitary conditions – Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine

Data of the State Statistics Service testify to the fact that 1.5 million Ukrainians have been currently working in insanitary conditions.

This figure was made public by Head of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine Yuriy Kulyk at a briefing “Promotion of Labor Protection in the “Green” Economy,” UKRINFORM reports.

“Today, according to the State Statistics Service, over 1.5 million Ukrainians are working in insanitary conditions. This figure is very large,” Yuriy Kulyk said.

He also informed that cases are frequent of traumatism concealment. Financing of prevention measures on labor protection is also unsatisfactory.

According to the Trade Union leader, for improvement of the situation in this sphere, the Federation of Trade Unions concluded a cooperation agreement with the State Service of Mining Supervision and Industrial Security. “In addition, we made a proposal to the Cabinet on adoption of a Concept for Improvement of Labor Protection,” Kulyk emphasized.

President: Bomb attacks in Dnipropetrovs’k are a challenge to Ukraine

We understand that it is a new challenge facing our entire country, President of Ukraine commented on the series of blasts, which took place in Dnipropetrovs’k, injuring nine people.

“I know as much as you do. But the best specialists will be appointed to investigate the bombings. We will think how to respond to them appropriately,” the President told a press conference in Crimea during his working visit to the peninsular.
