Billboard picturing Hitler appeared in Zaporizhzhzia

Anti-Stalin billboard picturing Adolph Hitler has been hung out in Zaporizhzhzia, local newspaper reprots.

The poster has been placed on a building’s wall in one of the busy crossroads of the regional center.

The poster depicts Hitler against the background of the monument to Stalin with inscriptions “How am I worse?” and “Erect a monument to me as well”.

The billboard has been placed by one of the local newspaper with an appeal “Liberate the city from shame” as a protest action against establishment of the monument to Josef Stalin.

The newspaper plans to keep the poster with Hitler for one month.

Kyiv authority will set up social network jointly with Microsoft

The Kyiv city administration and Microsoft corporation signed a memorandum about participation and support of electronic management in the city by the U.S. corporation.

“They (Microsoft) are ready to set up the investment portal, ready to automate our budgetary process and to set up the social network of small and medium-sized entrepreneurship,” deputy head of the Kyiv city state administration Ruslan Kramarenko has said, UKRINFORM reports.

According to him, during a visit to the Silicon Valley in the USA representatives of Kyiv authority and Ukrainian business met also with other large IT companies, which were proposed to invest in development of information technologies in the capital.

According to Kramarenko, a final decision will be taken during visits of potential investors to Kyiv.

President takes part in launching new blast furnace Yenakiieve Iron and Steel Works

President Viktor Yanukovych took part in launching a new blast furnace at JSC Yenakiieve Iron and Steel Works, the construction of which is an example of successful investment strategies.

Congratulating the enterprise workers on the event, the President stressed that the new equipment allows not only manufacturing high-quality products, but also reducing the harmful effects of metalworking on the environment. “The modern blast furnace built at the Yenakiieve Iron and Steel Works will not only produce high quality cast iron, but, what is important for the city, will significantly reduce harmful emissions into the air – by 40% compared to other furnaces,” he said, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.

“While developing metalworking in Ukraine, it is very important to solve environmental problems too,” Yanukovych said, praising the attention of the plant owners and management to the issue.

According to the President, further production improvement and modernization would allow maintaining high quality of goods made by Yenakiieve metallurgists. “Step by step we will be improving the quality, increasing competitiveness, and raising the level of environmental safety,” Viktor Yanukovych said.

PM Azarov orders inspection of Ukraine’s foster homes

Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov has ordered to form a working group engaged into inspection of conditions of children’s stay in foster homes of Ukraine. The group must provide results after one month, ForUm learned from the Cabinet’s press office.

“Let’s form a public group, which will check the whole net of foster homes within a month,” he said at a meeting with representatives of public organizations.

During the meeting some public organizations raised a question on abuses in acting foster homes and informed that foster children are not well adapt to the social life.

The evening session of the parliament was supposed to start at 4 pm. However, neither speaker Lytvyn nor his deputies made an attempt to get to their places and announce the beginning of the session.

Opposition refused compromise and set new demands

Opposition refused compromise and set new demands

BYuT faction has decided to leave the negotiation process with the majority regarding the unblocking of the parliamentary rostrum, BYuT faction leader Ivan Kyrylenko has told the press, ForUm correspondent reports.

He also disavowed his statement on opposition’s readiness to support unpopular reforms of the majority in exchange for decriminalization of Yulia Tymoshenko’s article.

Kyrylenko declared the decision was made at the faction meeting and added that BYuT does not trust the parliamentary majority and that’s why withdraws from the negotiations.

He also stated that the opposition added another demand to create a temporary investigation commission on recent events, when a participant of the hunger strike in Donetsk died.

Kyrylenko says that if the evening session of the parliament starts with these items the opposition will unblock the rostrum; otherwise the faction will continue blocking the parliament.

Donetsk mayor dismissed official for buying limousine

Donetsk mayor Oleksandr Lukianchenko has dismissed the head of the city department on capital development Fedor Fedorenko, who bought a staff car costing more than 300 thousand hryvnias.

The mayor confirmed that Fedorenko authorized the purchase of Volkswagen Passat Limousine B7 Comfortline, costing 324 thousand hryvnias

“He bought it for himself, for the department on capital development,” Lukianchenko told journalists in Donetsk.

“The law is equal for everyone. The Cabinet banned purchasing expensive cars. On November 30 I had to dismiss Fedor Fedorenko,” the mayor said and added that the city council would decide what to do with the car. “For sure officials won’t drive that car,” Lukianchenko assured.

Yefremov: Cancellation of deputies’ privileges has been included into draft state budget

Head of the Party of Regions faction Oleksandr Yefremov has declared that cancellation of a number of deputies’ privileges has already been included in to the draft state budget for 2012.

“I can tell you that several minutes ago representatives of our faction proposed to abolish a number of privileges, because they are ridiculous and nobody uses them,” he told briefing, ForUm learned from the press office of the party.

“For example, nobody uses such privileges as free parking, free luggage transportation or free travel in public transport,” he specified.

“Cancellation of free resort tours will help to save 830 thousand hryvnias, reduction of free health recovery period from two to one month will save 6.5 million hryvnias, reduction of the provision of the financial assistance to deputies and their assistants from three to one year will help to save up to 15 million hryvnias,” Yefremov added.

“The position of our faction is to support the cancellation of the given privileges and eventually to remove all privileges, providing financial assistance only for deputies’ activity,” he summed up.
