Speaker Lytvyn believes execution of budget in full will give Ukraine a chance

Speaker Lytvyn believes execution of budget in full will give Ukraine a chance

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn believes that execution of the budget 2012 in full will give the country a chance, he said in the interview to Rada television channel.

Commenting on the criticism of the draft budget by the opposition, V.Lytvyn agreed that it is substantiated, as “there never have been perfect budgets which did not provoke any complaints.”

“On the other hand, it is not logical: some representatives of the opposition call the draft budget too optimistic, and recommend cutting it down by UAH 50 billion, at the same time claiming that it is bad,” the Head of the Parliament noted, ForUm learned in the press office of the parliament.

He believes that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine should adjust the draft state budget for 2012 together. “I would like to see all parliamentary committees, including the chief committee on budget, and the government members, including the Ministry of Finance, work,” V.Lytvyn stressed. This week the Head of the Parliament chaired the council of the government representatives and heads of regional councils who discussed the issue of local budgets.

“We expected that representatives of all regions will visit the budget committee to check the planned expenditures for every region,” the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine informed. He stated that most social expenditures belong to the competence of the local self-government which should have a possibility to realize the delegated powers.

V.Lytvyn informed that the draft state budget for 2012 “increases expenditures in almost all spheres.” At the same time, against the background of a general increase of the gross domestic product till UAH 1,5 trillion, absolute budget indices will be slightly lower, as the smaller part of the national wealth is distributed through the national budget. V.Lytvyn supports this scheme.

He believes that the budget “should be realistic and devoid of populism.” “In this respect, we have the opportunities for work,” the Head of the Parliament stated. He also appreciates the fact that the budget envisages formation of the regional development fund, “as funds should be accumulated for the event of emergencies, especially considering the expectable new wave of the global crisis.” “We should protect the country and public well-being,” V.Lytvyn declared.

Ukraine's politician puts inconvenient question to Europe regarding Tymoshenko case

Ukraine’s politician puts inconvenient question to Europe regarding Tymoshenko case

On the eve of the summit ‘Eastern partnership” in Warsaw the human rights activist and Ukraine’s politician Stepan Khmara asked European politicians several questions regarding the case of Yulia Tymoshenko.

“The first question is where Ukraine should take more than 400 million dollars to pay off the debt of the private company of Yulia Tymoshenko ‘Common economic systems of Ukraine’. On June 1 this year Russia sent a letter with a demand to pay off the debts of the company organized by Tymoshenko and Lazarenko, who being a prime minister back then gave state guarantees under that loan,” Khmara said in comments to UNN.

The politician also wants to know why Europe does not take into account the fact that because of Tymoshenko’s activity Ukraine faces great problems, including the gas issue. “Why do you turn the blind eye to the results of the enslaving contract Tymoshenko signed with Russia?” he said.

“The third question is why you declare that the Kyiv court is not fair, when the court has not issued a verdict yet. Why do you respect the court of your country, but not ours,” Khmara added.

“Don’t you see how many people were imprisoned because of Tymoshenko’s fraud? What, it turns out that she made everybody a thief, and now she is fooling everyone playing the victim of political repressions,” the politician asked his next question.

Summing up Stepan Khmara asked why Europe supports those, who actually want to destroy European choice of Ukraine. “Signing this contract with Moscow Tymoshenko weakened Ukraine, making everything possible for Europe to turn away from Ukraine. Don’t you understand this?,” Khmara pointed out.

Incident with Tabachnyk is extremism - Party of Regions

Incident with Tabachnyk is extremism – Party of Regions

MP of Ukraine, member of the parliamentary faction of the Party of Regions Vadym Kolesnichenko declares that the act of the student of Kyiv-Mogylianska Academy Darya Stepanenko, who hit the education minister Dmytro Tanachnyk with a bouquet, was an act of extremism.

“Today we heard a ‘tragic’ story from Our Ukraine MP Andriy Parubiy about a young patriot, who tried on behalf of all Ukrainian student community to make a protest against the education minister from,” the MP said.

“But when we examined the situation, very interesting facts turned out. Let’s say this girl was a participant of the protest action held two weeks ago, when a group of masked people with knuckles tried to derail a meeting of the anti-Fascist forum, organized by representatives of veteran organizations of Ukraine,” he added.

Kolesnichenko informed that police managed to take photos of those, who attacked veterans and were throwing eggs at them, and this student was among the attackers. She and other participants of the attack are the members of the ‘Society of Saint Lukas’, activists of which were seen frying eggs on Eternal fire. The same group organized attacks on monuments.

“Actions of student Stepanenko have been damned by the All-Ukrainian council of student community. Hence, it is clear she did not act on behalf of all students,” the MP pointed out.

“The conclusion is that the society is dealing with cynical and systematic actions under the name ‘extremism’. The society must solve this problem and put a period to it. The people must live in a country, where law prevails, and extremists must be put in corresponding places of isolation,” Kolesnichenko summed up.
