Bohoslovska advises Tymoshenko to prove her innocence instead of making political show

Bohoslovska advises Tymoshenko to prove her innocence instead of making political show

Party of Regions MP Inna Bohoslovska, who is present at the trials over ex-premier Yulia Tymoshenko on the 2009gas agreements with Russia, accused the latter of violating “all laws and the rules of conduct in court.”

“The beginning of the case, in fact, confirmed that the main task of Tymoshenko is to turn the trial into a political show, rather than to prepare strong arguments and prove her innocence,” the MP said, UKRINFORM reported.

According to Bohoslovska, in the morning on Wednesday, supporters of Yulia Tymoshenko and BYuT faction MPs “occupied” the courtroom and tried not to let their opponents in.

“This is the agony of BYuT and Tymoshenko personally. We can see that the same as she placed herself outside the law, her supporters and people’s deputies behave appropriately, in violation of all possible laws and rules of conduct in court,” says Bohoslovska, who heads the parliamentary commission for inquiry into activities of the ex-premier in the gas sector.

According to the presumption of innocence in criminal proceedings, the accused, on the basis of Paragraph 2 Art. 62 of the Constitution, is not obliged to prove his innocence, and Paragraph 2, Art. 22 of the Criminal Procedure Code expressly prohibits the court, prosecutor, investigator and the person conducting the inquiry to shift the burden of proving innocence on the accused.
