The construction of the main UEFA EURO 2012 facilities will be completed in 2011, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said during his working visit to Kherson region (southern Ukraine).

Last year, according to Yanukovych, everything was done to eliminate the delay in preparations for the UEFA EURO 2012 European Football Championship. “We got back on schedule in 2010 and are currently ahead of schedule. In 2011, we will 99% complete the construction of all facilities for EURO 2012, and in 2012 we will work on other issues, first and foremost, organizational issues,” the president said, UKRINFORM reported.

Kyiv, Donetsk, Kharkiv and Lviv in Ukraine were chosen to host the finals of the UEFA EURO 2012 European Football Championship.

Ukrainian presidential staff officials will travel in Skoda cars rather than Mercedes to save budget money, the Ukrainian president’s press service said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Every hryvnya counts and must be spent on the most necessary things…This will allow us to make save significant savings,” the statement said.

The press service did not specify how much money they would save.

Mercedes cars will be used for delegations until they are scrapped.

Ukraine has about six-percent budget deficit. In July 2010, the International Monetary Fund approved a $15.15-billion standby loan for Ukraine to support an economic adjustment and reform program.
