Unpopular reforms may continue for another 3-5 months – Tihipko

Unpopular reforms in Ukraine may continue for another 3-5 months. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Social Policy Serhiy Tihipko in an interview with TV Channel 5, UKRINFORM reported.

Then, according to him, in some 4-6 months, it will be necessary to modify some aspects of the new tax legislation.

Basically there will be some positive things to improve the situation for businesses in the first place, Tihipko said. He added that the forthcoming 2012 parliamentary elections would generally change the political logic.

Serhiy Tihipko also said that he continued supervising the block of economic issues in the government. He intends to complete work on tax legislation, all that relates to deregulation, and to lay the basis for tariff legislation.

And then, Tihipko said, he will give over these “difficult questions” to the vice-premiers and ministers in charge.

Tymoshenko: PGO is falsifying my case under Yanukovych's auspices

Tymoshenko: PGO is falsifying my case under Yanukovych’s auspices

Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko has accused prosecutors of falsifying the criminal case against her.

“Today they began to acquaint me with the criminal case concerning the payment of pensions. Today they gave me the schedule for studying the material – how quickly I must do this,” Yulia Tymoshenko said at the end of interrogation at the Prosecutor General’s Office.

She said the pre-trial investigation was flawed. “The necessary expert reviews were not done, the necessary steps were not taken, they ignored all opportunities to question witnesses – they didn’t do what they should under the law to establish the truth in this case,” she said.

“The case is being rigged, and at the next stage they want to falsify the verdict. There is no doubt that Viktor Yanukovych is personally managing this case,” Yulia Tymoshenko said.
