Yushchenko appealed against court decision on Stepan Bandera

Yushchenko appealed against court decision on Stepan Bandera

Former president Viktor Yushchenko has appealed against the Donetsk regional court decision on illegal awarding Stepan Bandera with Hero of Ukraine reward, ForUm learned from the press office of Our Ukraine party.

Yushchenko believes that the court decision does not meet the requirements of current legislation and must be cancelled.

As reported, the Donetsk regional court overturned a decree posthumously awarding the nation’s highest award to a nationalist leader whose insurgent army supported Nazi Germany for part of World War II.

The court ruled that former President Viktor Yushchenko’s decree bestowing the Hero of Ukraine award on Stepan Bandera was illegal, as Bandera was never a citizen of Ukraine (as he died before 1991).

Opposition demands transparency in government’s gas talks with Russia

The opposition is insisting that Mykola Azarov’s government disclose the terms and offers being made to Russia in exchange for a reduction in gas prices, opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko has announced.

“We’re troubled by the statements being made by Yanukovych’s government regarding proposals to Russia regarding the aviation sector, creating a gas transport consortium, and other unknown proposals having to do with nuclear energy and related facilities,” Yulia Tymoshenko said, according to her official website.

The opposition leader stressed that the agreement between Ukraine and Russia on gas supply that was signed by the previous government fully ensures a stable market price for gas.

“We’d like for Yanukovych and his government to clearly announce which national interests they’re selling in exchange for what they’re calling a decrease in gas prices. We’d like them to disclose the terms that concern that country’s strategic facilities. Nobody will allow them to humiliate and betray the national interests this way,” Yulia Tymoshenko said.

BYuT: Azarov's government not allowing members of opposition to attend cabinet meetings

BYuT: Azarov’s government not allowing members of opposition to attend cabinet meetings

Mykola Azarov’s government is violating the law by not allowing members of the opposition government to attend meetings of the official cabinet, claims BYuT deputy Ostap Semerak, as ForUm learned from Tymoshenko’s official website.

“The shadow government requests that Mykola Azarov’s Cabinet of Ministers allow us to attend meetings in accordance with the law on rules of procedure, so that we can read the draft documents before they are adopted, and not after. They’re not allowing representatives of the opposition government to their meetings,” said Ostap Semerak.

According to the lawmaker, Mykola Azarov’s government is not being systematic with their decisions. “Last Wednesday I went online and read about the decisions passed by the government: adding two more deputy defense ministers, some other deputy, an appointment, doing away with the competitive appointment of managers of state enterprises that are involved in Euro-2012 preparations.”

“The coalition that has come to power does not have a clear action plan. The fact that they intend to introduce a government program only in May is evidence of this,” believes Ostap Semerak.
