BYuT will form an effective opposition government

Once in opposition, BYuT plans to create a so-called “shadow” government.

“We will work very effectively in opposition. According to norms in the parliamentary rules, we will form a shadow Cabinet of Ministers that will be headed by Yulia Tymoshenko,” People’s Deputy Serhiy Podhorny (BYuT) said today, according to Tymoshenko’s official website.

According to the parliamentarian, the opposition government will include professionals who will monitor the work of the ruling government in their field. “We will select appropriate ministers. It won’t be the case as with the previous cabinet, where the ministers weren’t selected by the prime minister. This wasn’t so much her team, because people were there based on the quote principle, people from former President Yushchenko, who didn’t always support her positions,” explained Serhiy Podhorny.

“And as Yulia Tymoshenko said, we won’t allow President Yanukovych to play golf and tennis,” he noted.

Tymoshenko said goodbye to the Cabinet

The same day after the dismissal Yulia Tymoshenko held a meeting of Cabinet staff, said goodbye to the workers and thanked for good work. She also asked the staff of the Secretariat of the Cabinet to work “warely” with new Cabinet.

Later Tymoshenko held a meeting with ministers during which she declared she would go on vacation and charged the first vice minister Oleksandr Turchynov to fulfil the duties of the acting prime minister.

At the same time the majority of the government confirmed their readiness to keep working till new Cabinet is set.

Oleksandr Turchynov will serve as acting Prime Minister of Ukraine until a new one is elected and new government is formed.

This follows article 115 of the Constitution, by which “The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine that has divested itself of its powers before the newly elected Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine or whose resignation has been accepted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine shall continue to exercise its powers until the newly formed Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine starts its work.”

Party of Regions promises tax holidays for small business

Delivering a speech in the parliament with the analysis of key directions of work of the present government, Mykola Azarov, Member of Parliament from the Party of Regions, answered the question about the policy carried out by the Tymoshenko Cabinet of Ministers regarding small and middle business, as well as the measures the Party of Regions members are going to undertake to support business.

“There are no laws which allow to collect taxes in advance. It is the breakdown of legislation to be answered for and I think they will be held accountable. There is no other way. We should tell businessmen explicitly that no one has a right to act this way. Neither they nor we,” he said.

“The second point. At this tribune I declare officially that our promise to provide small business with tax holidays is not an election pledge, because the elections came and passed. Tax holidays for small business is the only way of taking this sphere out of deep crisis it is currently in,” Azarov added.

“Therefore we will approve a number of laws and implement the concept of tax holidays for small business,” he promised, official information server of the Party of Regions reported.
