Russian film crew detained in Boryspi

Today in the morning a film crew of reporter Arkady Mamontov (TV channel Rossiya) has been detained at the Boryspil airport, RIA Novosti reports with the reference to the operator of the Mamontov’s author’s program Igor Belokopytov who called the agency.

“I was detained at the customs office. They interrogated me and searched. Then I was told I have no right to enter the country during 5 years for false informational propaganda against Ukraine”, Belokopytov said.

The film crew intended to make a new film in Ukraine. After Georgia attacked South Ossetia, reporters, including Belokopytov, made a movie “Svoy – Chuzhoy” about Ukrainians’ active service in the war in August 2008.

Ukraine’s side has not given any comments on the incident yet.

Lytvyn supports increase of social standards

Current situation in the Verkhovna Rada is one of scenarios to seize power in Ukraine, Speaker Lytvyn says.

“What is happening now is aimed at liquidating the last functioning public institution that would help influence the presidential campaign regarding control, assessments, and the endorsement of respective decisions,” the Verkhovna Rada Chairman said.

Volodymyr Lytvyn has called on the opposition to work constructively and persuade the government of the need to raise social standards, rather than “smash the state”. He said that he supports the idea of increasing the living wage and the minimum wage, if the source of financing a rise in social standards is determined.
