Herman: We excluded Chornovil from the party

The political council of the Party of Regions has satisfied the application of Taras Chornovil about his withdrawal from the party.

PR deputy Anna Herman told journalists.

“We have complied with his request and excluded his from the party,” she said.

Chornovil declared his intention to leave the party on October 2.

Tymoshenko: Parliamentary coalition – is an instrument that can stabilize financial sector of the country

Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko is confident that new parliamentary coalition can stabilize the financial sector of the country at the legislative level. This was disclosed by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko at the meeting with heads of the leading domestic banks.

The Prime Minister said that Government stands guard over the interests of the National Bank of Ukraine, “We uphold completely the National Bank’s independence, support all functions which the NBU fulfills today in the financial sector of the country to implement the national policy”.

Yulia Tymoshenko noted that significant for solving problems in the banking sector today is that one more influential instrument joined the Government and the NBU’s work – parliamentary majority, “This instrument can rise above all institutions of Ukraine and regulate legislatively the procedures which make such instruments as refinancing, functioning of foreign exchange market transparent, comprehensible both for the banking system and for the country.

Kyiv mayor is under investigation

Anti-Monopoly committee of Ukraine (AMCU) has launched an investigation against the Kyiv city administration and Kyiv underground. Officials are suspected in illegal increase of fares in the city transport.

According to AMCU head Oleksandr Melnichenko, the investigation is based on the address of Economic Minister Bogdan Danilishyn, who stated that the increase of fares was illegal.

The consideration of the case will take place within few days, Melnichenko informed.

Yushchenko called upon for completing housing construction and selling of flats

President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko is sure that it is necessary to complete construction of houses and to carry out an appropriate program. He stated this at a meeting with the head of the National Bank of Ukraine authorities of central organs of executive power and representatives of construction industry and banks.

According to the President, crisis impacted construction industry. There thousands and thousand unaccomplished objects “which should be finished. Then we could organize selling of flats on reasonable prices,” the President noted.

He is sure that this year, due to the financial crisis, Ukraine met threatening events in the field of construction. Investments into this sphere reduced by 5% (during 9 months of last year they increased by 35%.

The President proposed to issue security papers by the Cabinet and the State Mortgage Institution.

Yushchenko expects two effective weeks from parliament

President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko met with the new elected speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn, president’s press office reported. At the meeting Yushchenko expressed his expectations for the the parliament to work effectively for the next two weeks. 

“I hope that the parliament will work effectively during the remaining two weeks till the end of the year,” the President said.

In his turn, Volodymyr Lytvyn noted that he understood all difficulties and responsibility what should be done. “If we provide reasonable and adequate solutions, the crisis will not be so hard,” he said.

Kyiv residents- Holodomor victims to get 26 dollars

The Kyiv mayor Leonid Chernovetsky has singed a resolution, according to which residents of Kyiv who experienced Holodomor of 1932-33, will get UAH 200 (~26$)

In order to get this money, people should provide corresponding documents.

According to preliminary calculations, about 6650 Kyiv residents are the Holodomor tragedy victims.

Ukraine to follow all requirements of the IMF

Ukraine will meet all terms and conditions concluded with the IMF. The President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko said at his meeting with representatives of the IMF, his press-secretary reported.

As Yushchenko told, the Ukrainian side will follow accurately all arrangements written in the Memorandum on economic and financial policy.

The President of Ukraine addressed the IMF and asked to study and support additional measures carried out by experts with the aim to soften negative economic tendencies of Ukrainian economy.

Poland to assist Ukraine in carrying out reforms

Poland is ready to provide expert aid for carrying out administrative and territorial reform in Ukraine.

Justice Minister of Ukraine Mykola Onyshchuk held a meeting with Polish officials and experts on administrative-territorial reforms.

The meeting took place on December 10 in the bulding of Ukrainian Justice Ministry during the visit of Polish delegation to Ukraine within the international project “Assistance in administrative and territorial reform in Ukraine”.
