BYuT decided to run for parliament

The Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko decided to run for parliament at the early elections. BYuT deputy Oleh Lyashko told journalists Friday.“We are taking part in the elections. We consider the presidential decree illegal, but nevertheless we are running for the parliament. All HQs will start working on Monday,” Lyashko said.
Earlier BYuT member Andriy Portnov told that the parliamentary elections would take place only when BYuT decided.

“The parliament elections will happen only when BYuT wants. Until BYuT decides I think it would be hardly possible to hold these elections,” Portnov said.

Official election campaign for the early parliamentary elections starts October 11, 2008.

Riot in People’s Movement of Ukraine

MP Yaroslav Kendzyor (OU-PSD faction) accuses the People’s Movement of Ukraine leadership of acting in collusion with BYuT for the sake of places in the list and Ministers portfolios in future.

Kendzer told a press conference on Friday.

He stressed that the PMU leadership united with BYuT on basis of a pragmatic interest.

“The PMU leadership needs a guarantee of receiving a number of parliamentary mandates, with a promise of several Ministers’ positions”, Ya.Kendzyor stressed.

According to him, at the same time, for BYuT “it is extremely important to get the legendary brand of PMU to ennoble its cosmopolite and half-criminal nudity”.

He informed that soon a party convention will take place, and the party leadership is undertaking “colossal efforts, with exerting a fierce pressure both with carrot and stick” to force regional organizations to support the decision on forming a bloc with BYuT at the election.

The lawmaker pointed out that this position is not supported, as of today, by Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Lviv, Kyiv, Poltava, and partly Sumy regional organizations, which make more than half of the People’s Movement of Ukraine members.

Yaroslav Kendzyor stressed they want to collaborate with the President’s bloc at the snap poll.

All democratic forces should unite on basis of BYuT – Lutsenko

All democratic forces should unite on basis of BYuT – Lutsenko

Yuri Lutsenko, Interior Minister of Ukraine and leader of the People’s Self-Defense, is confident that all democratic forces should unite into a single democratic bloc on basis of BYuT at the snap poll.

He claimed this to a press conference in UNIAN today.

“All democratic forces should unite around BYuT. The country needs it. This is necessary for Ukraine to be held in respect. That is why I will call on all democratic forces to unite around BYuT”, Yuri Lutsenko stressed. According to him, all non-parliament forces, including the Bloc of Vitali Klitschko, with which the People’s Self-Defense plans to hold talks in the nearest future.

Yuri Lutsenko grounded that, as of today, a political fighting takes place namely due to the “destructive” position of the Presidential Secretariat, which caused the snap poll.

He recalled that several months ago he called on the President and his Secretariat to halt work against the democratic coalition and to sack Victor Baloha from the Chief of Staff post.

“Instead of sacking V.Baloha, we got an answer [from the President – UNIAN] that “Baloha is me”, Yuri Lutsenko said.

The People’s Self-Defense leader stressed that, because of his “personal distaste of Tymoshenko, Victor Yushchenko forgot about the country’s interests”.

In the opinion of Yuri Lutsenko, the snap poll, announced by the President, is an “illogical and incorrect” step.

Parliament still legitimate and can work – deputy Speaker

Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Mykola Tomenko believes the fact that today’s plenary session of Verkhovna Rada was opened and closed confirms legitimacy of parliament of the VI convocation.

He said this in an interview to journalists today.

“The fact of official opening and closing of the Verkhovna Rada plenary session on October 10, after the President’s decree [on dissolution] was published, means that Ukraine still has a legitimate parliament”, M.Tomenko said.

He pointed out that very many advisors of the President, as well as a number of other politicians, who would like to live in Ukraine without parliament, used to claim that, after the decree would be published, the parliament would not be able to carry out sessions and make decisions.

According to him, the parliament works in line with Paragraph 1, Article 90, of the Constitution, and will terminate its authorities since the first day of work of the new-elected Verkhovna Rada of VII convocation.

Tymoshenko won’t resign until new coalition is formed

BYuT faction leader Ivan Kyrylenko claims that Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko has no intent to resign until a new coalition is formed.

According to UNIAN, he said this to journalists today.

According to I.Kyrylenko, as soon as a new coalition is formed, the Prime Minister will resign.

“If it will be formed today, the Prime Minister will resign immediately”, he said.

At the same time, he noted that the yesterday’s voting indicated that the Verkhovna Rada already has a potential coalition.

The BYuT faction leader added that it would be irresponsible to resign from the post of Prime Minister before a new coalition is formed. “Before that, it would be irresponsible. The only legitimate body that can influence at least somehow – let’s paralyze it too? These are very serious trifles”.
