Yushchenko noted that this year financing had been the lowest one ever, and that financing for the next year would be even less – 0.85% of gross domestic product. The President said that with such low level of financing it is impossible to talk about the contract army.

“It they call it to take care about Ukrainian defense policy, then it is wrong,” Yushchenko said.

PR and BYuT promise to work consciously

Valeriy Pysarenko MP of Ukraine (BYuT faction) considers that there will be no early VRU elections.

He told journalists at the press conference.

According to him, “the parliament and the coalition will work normally”. Pysarenko noted that if the early elections are announced, then President of Ukraine should agree on elections, even taking into account small support among the population.

Yuriy Myroshnychenko MP of Ukraine (Party of Regions faction) also considers that “there will be no elections this year”. He noted: “I don’t see reasons for the early elections, at least now”.

Vladyslav Kaskiv MP of Ukraine (OU-PSD faction) considers that such statements of Pysarenko and Myroshnychenko prove that new coalition will be formed in the parliament with the participation of these two political forces.

Kaskiv considers that this is normal step from the legal point of view, but at the same time, he has some questions about ideological reasons of such coalition.

He also adds that formation of the coalition between the BYuT and the PR “will finally dot one’s “i’s” for voters and will show who is who in the Ukrainian policy”.

According to UNIAN, he claimed this speaking to residents of Vodyanyky village of the Zolotonoshski district in the Cherkassy Oblast on Friday.

“Somebody frightens us with tales about a strong-arm scenario, a state of emergency, use of force to solve conflict. I guarantee: none of these positions will work”, the President stressed.

Victor Yushchenko pointed out that Ukraine is a democratic state and has proved over the last four years its ability to solve conflicts in a peaceful way.

“Regardless of conflict scales, nobody would bring tanks under the parliament”, Victor Yushchenko claimed, adding that the conflict will be solved over a dialog. “We are a free nation. Over dialog, over communication, we will find a democratic way out of crisis”, the President pointed out.

Ukraine should recall its application for NATO MAP

Hrytsenko: Ukraine should recall its application for NATO MAP

Considering the current situation, Ukraine should recall its application for joining the NATO Membership Action Plan. Anatoliy Hrytsenko, head of the Ukrainian parliamentary committee for national security and defense, claimed this during a working visit to Kharkiv.

Instead, the ex-Defense Minister of Ukraine proposes to pay more attention to developing cooperation with NATO and solving frozen regional conflicts, Deutsche Welle informs.

Hrytsenko says there is a little probability that the democratic coalition will persist in parliament. Considering the internal crisis, the lawmakers believes, Ukrainian authorities have less opportunities to consolidate for the sake of joining NATO.

“I would recall the application for Ukraine’s joining the NATO MAP, and would propose to alter the agenda of the Ukraine-NATO meeting in December. It would be better to consider issues of regional security, which are pressing after the Caucasian conflict”, the politician stressed.

However, the ex-Defense Minister is confident that in future Ukraine must become a NATO member.
