Are they going to drop US dollar to 4.30?

Azarov: Are they going to drop US dollar to 4.30?

It is for the first time the government introduced the state budget but didn’t make a calculation for exchange rate, stated ex-minister of finances of Ukraine, people’s deputy Mykola Azarov at the briefing today, as ForUm’s correspondent reports.

“That means the country won’t have any reference point in exchange rate for dollar and hryvnia. Are they going to drop the exchange rate for good – make it 4.30-4.10 or we come back to 5.0-5.10. Isn’t it important in the budget calculations?” asked Azarov.

He paid attention that there is an article in the state budget which concerns payment of foreign debts, it depends directly on the exchange rate. The people’s deputy also asked how the industrial enterprises should carry out their financial policy without forecasts for exchange rate.

Yushchenko introduces own amendments to the state budget 2008

President Viktor Yushchenko criticized the Government’s draft law about amendments to the state budget and introduced own project to the Verkhovna Rada, as the President’s press office reports.

“Yushchenko believes the introduced draft law is optimal to keep stable dynamics in the state development, to put down the inflation and solve the most important national problems,” written in the document.

At the same time, the press office reminds that the necessity of these revisions was obvious during the adoption of the sate budget.

“The Head of the state signed this Law, considering the necessity of implementing new life standards for the citizens. Moreover, the Law obliged the Government to work out and introduce the amendments to the Verkhovna Rada up to March, 1 2008. This norm of the Law was ignored by the government”.

The President is sure the project introduced to the Verkhovna Rada contains a number of risks.

Sarkozy: we should favor Ukraine’s movement to EU

President of France Nicolas Sarkozy states he has an intention to favour Ukraine’s movement to the European Union. He said today at the session sitting of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

“We should favour Ukraine’s movement to EU”, said president of France.

At the same time, he noted that Ukraine’s membership in the European Union won’t be a simple question, because it concerns a rather large country with the population at about 50 million. It is not a “small” decision,” said Sarkozy.

“The one who walks by the streets of Kyiv will understand it is European capital,” he said, as UNIAN reports.

As ForUm reported, on July 9, there was EU-Ukraine summit in Evian. Ukraine has many expectations for France’s heading in EU, especially for the progress in negotiations about new agreement, held since March 5, 2007.
