Yushchenko gives a state guarantee to Russia

The Ukrainian territory will not be used against Russia, stated President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko in his interview to La Croix.

‘We give our state guarantee, – said the President, – that the Ukrainian territory will not be used against Russia’.

‘Our Constitution prohibits location of foreign troops on our territory. 15 years ago, we refused from nuclear weapons, we had,’ reminded the Head of Ukrainian state, as gazeta.ru reports.

Our tendency to join NATO, according to Yushchenko, is ‘a policy, not directed against someone but which meets our national priorities.’

As ForUm reported earlier, Ukrainian leaders more than once stated that Ukraine’s joining NATO is not directed against Russia or its interests.

In turn, NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said that the alliance is not planning to allocate own bases in Sevastopol when in 2017 BSF of RF leaves this location according to the agreement between Ukraine and Russia. ‘Undoubtedly, no. But first of all I would like to say that we are aside from any bilateral discussions between Ukraine and Russia regarding the future of BSF. This question doesn’t concern NATO, therefore Secretary General and members stay aside,’ said Scheffer.

Earlier, being the President of Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin stated that NATO’s approaching Russian borders is understood as the direct threat to RF. Moreover, Vladimir Putin said that the statement that these processes are not directed against Russia, “can not satisfy them”.

Yesterday, Kyiv suffered from weather all day long: heat, heavy rainfall and even lightning. In the evening, heavy rainfall changed hot daytime. Traditionally, the streets near Livoberezhna, Dorohozhychi metro and Peremohy square suffered the most.

The water paralyzed the traffic on the half of Kyiv streets, including Shovkovychna, Kruhlouniversytetska, Instytutska, Hrushevskoho, Volodymyrska, Khreshchatyk, Besarabka, Podil, Chervonozoryanyi avenue, Solomenska, Sevastopolska squares and other.

According to the State Automobile Inspection (DAI), there were 342 traffic accidents yesterday, compared to 150-200 as usual in Kyiv.

Besides, the lightning strike caused fire in the dome of the state library in Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. Fire brigades salvaged books, there were no people inside. The fire was liquidated quickly.

Tymoshenko about Ukraine's rating in the world

Tymoshenko about Ukraine’s rating in the world

Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko believes that objective rating of Ukraine in the world depends on volumes of foreign investment to the Ukrainian economy. She told a press conference in Zaporizhzhya commenting on evidence derived from the International Rating Agency Standard & Poor’s which had lowered inflation rating in Ukraine, as Cabinet’s press service reports.

Yulia Tymoshenko noted that sometimes the returns of various international rating agencies differ significantly just as poll results.

According to the Prime Minister, when evaluating the Ukrainian economy rating it is necessary to proceed from a standard objective index – quadrupled volumes of foreign investments to Ukraine from January to June this year as compared with the same period last year. “This is an objective evaluation of Ukraine’s rating in the world,” said Yulia Tymoshenko.

PR about distrust to Tymoshenko’s Cabinet

People’s deputy of the Party of Regions, member of the opposition cabinet, Mykola Azarov states there will be enough votes in VR to declare distrust to the Government.

‘In fact, there are enough votes in the Parliament to vote for distrust to this Government,” said Azarov on “5 channel” yesterday evening.

‘It is not the matter whether VR votes for or against. Actually, distrust is a characteristic feature of all actions of this government. All public messages they make are questionable for the experts,’ the people’s deputy questioned the announced by Tymoshenko GDP index, ‘because official data for 5 months are published after June 14, and today we have June 12,’ Interfax-Ukraine reports.

He also said the Party of Regions doesn’t initiate the Government’s resignation, ‘they do it with their actions or more exactly with their inactivity.’

3.5 hours of Ukrainian life

3.5 hours of Ukrainian life

3.5 hours of Ukrainian life

Many European cities strike against high prices for petrol and food. According to Eurostat, the prices for foodstuffs has grown by 7.1% for the previous 12 months in EU countries, in Ukraine – by 50%. And there are no strikes here, although an average EU citizen earns at least 10 times more per month.

In addition, the growth of prices in Ukraine is so that Kyiv became a more expensive city (foodstuff) than Berlin and even London and Moscow in few products.

Earlier, journalists of Novye izvestiya compared the prices for potato, carrot, chicken, rice and a can of cola.

What was interesting is the time a Ukrainian should work to buy this “basket” – 3.5 hours.

If you live in Germany you need 9 minutes.
