Ukrainian and Egyptian delegation meet in Cairo

President Yushchenko is on official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt.

Within the framework of this visit President took part in flower laying ceremony near the monument to the Unknown Soldier and near the Tomb of Muhammad Anwar El Sadat. President’s press office reports.

The participants of the ceremony were Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko, Minister for Regional Development Vasyl Kuibida, Minister of Agrarian Policy Yuriy Melnyk, acting Security Service Head Valentyn Nalyvaychenko and deputy Presidential Secretariat Chief of Staff Oleksander Chaly also honored Anwar El Sadat’s memory with a moment of silence.

Then President Yushchenko met with the President of Arab Republic of Egypt Hosni Mubarak. The sides planned to discussed trade, economic, energy, military space exploration cooperation, etc.

PR: Yushchenko have nothing to say in his address

People’s deputy from the Party of Regions faction Volodymyr Sivkovych considers that the President will have nothing to say in his traditional address to people and People’s deputies in the Verkhovna Rada. He stated in an interview with the ForUm’s correspondent.

“Will Yushchenko state that we have high achievements or that the country hasn’t received MAP? Our high politicians do not understand what is the strategy of national security and why should we be friends, first of all, with Europe and then with America. Or will he tell why Germany and France have given Ukraine slap in face?”, the People’s deputy stated.

Sivkovych has emphasized that the President will not be able to boast of improvements in the country. According to the People’s deputy, prices are raising, when “the government works “smartly”.

Ukrzaliznytsia to prepare railway transport for Euro 2012

Ukrzaliznytsia has outlined guidelines to prepare railway transport for work during the European football finals in Ukraine in 2012.

Particularly, high-speed traffic (up to 200 kmph) must link Kyiv with other hosting cities – first with Poltava, Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk, and then Lviv Odesa and Kharkiv.

To improve passenger services, it is planned to introduce the system for reservation and sale of railway ticket through the Internet. Cabinet’s press service reports.

OU-PSD demands confirmation or disproof of Putin’s statements

The OU-PSD faction demands from Russia a confirmation or disproof of statements of RF President Vladimir Putin that Ukraine is not even a State. People’s deputy from the OU-PSD Borys Tarasyuk stated in his speech in the parliament, the ForUm’s correspondent reports.

According to Tarasyuk, the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine must check the trustworthiness of this information concerning Putin’s statements and to inform Ukrainian society.

According to the People’s deputy, the tone of statements of the RF President “is not just tactless”. “Statements, I quotes: Ukraine is not even a State… it can be interpreted as violation of the international law,” he noted.
The parliamentary is sure that such statements do harm to relations of Ukraine and Russia.

According to Tarasyuk, OU-PSD members wouldn’t like to believe that Putin “made statements concerning Ukraine in such a way”.

Yushchenko asks parliament to discharge CEC member

The parliament received a submission of President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko to discharge deputy head of the Central Election Commission Zhanna Usenko-Chorna. Nestor Shufrych, PR representative, stated in an interview with the ForUm’s correspondent.

According to Shufrych, the BYuT and the OU-PSD should be asked about the processes that take place in the coalition. “I would ask to pay attention to interesting submission on CEC member discharge, who represents the BYuT,” the People’s deputy added.

Shufrych has promised that the opposition will decide on this question.

Yatsenyuk doesn’t want to adopt Constitution in a hurry

Speaker of the parliament Arseniy Yatsenyuk has opened morning sitting of the Verkhovna Rada. The ForUm’s correspondent reports.

438 People’s deputies are registered in the hall.

Before the agenda consideration Yatsenyuk stated that he hadn’t seen the draft bill on formation of VRU Temporary investigation commission concerning elaboration of new version of the Constitution. He also noted that there was no decision of the regulation committee concerning this draft bill.

The head of the parliament emphasizes that the Constitution will not be adopted without the parliament and all its texts will be considered in the session hall.

The speaker is sure that it isn’t right to leave everything and start consider this question.

Yatsenyuk proposes to consider this draft bill on Monday at the conciliatory council. “A haste during adoption of the Constitution will not do good for the Constitution and the State,” the VRU chairman noted.

In his turn head of the regulation commission Oleksander Yefremov states that the Party of Regions insists this question on commission formation to be included in to the agenda.

He informed that regulation commission will consider this draft bill.

After this the speaker announced a break in order to agree positions.

Russia will make everything not to let Ukraine in NATO

Russia will undertake all efforts in order not to let Ukraine’s and Georgia’s joining NATO, Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov stated.

“We will do everything not to let acceptance of Ukraine and Georgia in NATO, and not to let worsening of relations inevitably connected with this both with the Alliance, and with its leading members, and with our neighbors,” Lavrov said.

At the same time press-secretary of the White House Dana Perino confirmed the information that in December the USA resolutely intends to uphold Ukraine’s and Georgia’s joining NATO Membership Action Plan, as it did during the trip of US President George Bush to Europe to Bucharest summit of the Alliance.

“Yes, yes, we will resolutely continue this process,” Perino said. “At a forthcoming meeting of heads the Foreign Ministries of NATO countries “it is important that it is planned in advance,” the press-secretary explained. “Therefore our President said: let’s give our ministers a right to perform access to MAP,” she added.

Ukrainian-Libyan talks took place in Tripoli

In Tripoli, Libya the Ukrainian-Libyan talks took place headed by President Viktor Yushchenko and the Prime Minister of the Great Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya al-Baghdadi Ali al-Mahmudi. President’s press office reports. 

During the talks sides discussed prospects of developing cooperation between Ukraine and Libya in trade, investments, oil and gas production sector, aircraft construction, agriculture, tourism, humanitarian field.

Separately the sides dwelled on cooperation between their respective countries within the framework of the United Nations and other international organizations.
