Yulia Tymoshenko is appointed new PM (photo)

Today Yulia Tymoshenko was appointed new Prime Minister of Ukraine

Today the parliament elected new Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko. 226 People’s deputies voted for her. Voting was carried out by raising hands. People’s deputies from Party of Regions factions were not present during the voting.

Colleagues congratulated Yulia Tymoshenko and presented bunches of white roses to her.

 
In turn President Viktor Yushchenko welcomes Yulia Tymoshenko for the post of the Prime Minister and has noted that it is an evidence of democratic coalition’s effectiveness.

Sitting of Cabinet of Tymoshenko to take place today

The sitting of the government of Yulia Tymoshenko will take place today. Newly elected Transport Minister Josyf Vinsky stated in an interview with parliamentary journalists. ForUm’s correspondent reports.

According to him, the program of the government’s activity will be considered at the sitting. Vinsky has also noted that in this case tomorrow the government can put this program for consideration in the VRU.

Plyushch told why he voted for Cabinet of Tymoshenko

People’s deputy from the OU-PSD Ivan Plyushch in an interview with journalists told why he voted for the Cabinet of Tymoshenko. ForUm’s correspondent reports.

According to Plyushch, the previous government of Viktor Yanukovych was resigned, and there was no government. “Today there is the President, there is the Prime Minister, the VRU and absence of the government will be nonsense,” People’s deputy emphasized.

According to Plyushch, he wants the government to develop, he has his position and his principles, but it doesn’t mean that he can’t vote for the government of Tymoshenko.

The People’s deputy has noted that he wouldn’t vote for any government. He has emphasized that he knows the majority of members of the Cabinet and trusts them.

At the same time Plyushch has emphasized that in near future he doesn’t intend to sign the agreement on the democratic coalition.

Parliament approved new government's composition (list)

Parliament approved new government’s composition (list)

The VRU voted for appointment of new composition of the government. The voting was carried out by raising hands. 227 People’s deputies voted for this decision.

Ivan Plyushch, who did not support Tymoshenko during voting for PM, voted for government’s composition.

The People’s deputies met such action of Plyushch by heavy applauses and laugh. Yury Lutsenko even shook hand to Ivan Plyushch after the voting for government’s composition.

New Cabinet’s composition is the following:

First vice-PM – Olexander Turchynov;

Vice-PM – Ivan Vasyunyk;

Vice-PM – Hryhory Hemyrya;

Education Minister – Ivan Vakarchuk;

Transport and Communications Minister – Yosyf Vinsky;

Culture and Tourism Minister – Vasyl Vovkun;

Economy Minister – Bohdan Danilishyn;

Labour and Social policy Minister -Lyudmyla Denysova;

Defense Minister -Yury Yekhanurov;

Health Minister -Vasyl Knyazevych;

Cabinet Minister -Petro Krupko;

Minister of regional development and construction -Vasyl Kuybyda;

Housing and Communal services Minister – Olexiy Kucherenko;

Interior Minister -Yury Lutsenko;

Agrarian Policy Minister – Yury Melnyk;

Industry Minister – Volodymyr Novytsky;

Justice Minister -Mykola Onishchuk;

Foreign Minister – Volodymyr Ohryzko;

Family, Youth and Sport Minister – Yury Pavlenko;

Finance Minister – Viktor Pinzenyk;

Coal Industry Minister – Viktor Poltavets;

Fuel and Energy Minister -Yury Prodan;

Environment protection Minister – Hryhory Filipchuk;

Emergency Minister -Volodymyr Shandra.

It should be noted that People’s deputies from PR faction were not present during the voting in the parliament.

Turchynov: Program of Tymoshenko’s government is ready

In case new composition of the Cabinet is elected today, then its first session will take place already tomorrow. Olexander Turchynov candidate for the position of first vice Prime Minister informed, the ForUm’s correspondent reports.

Answering the journalists question, whether Tymoshenko’s government uses groundwork of its predecessors, Turchynov noted: “it is impossible to use as this base, made by Yanukovych’s government, is false.

Turchynov assured that Tymoshenko’s government would work long enough.

He has also informed that program of Tymoshenko’s government is ready, its only needs some remarks. At first the program must be approved in the Cabinet and then submitted to the parliament for approvement.

Vote for Cabinet’s composition has been started

Speaker of the parliament Arseniy Yatsenyuk has put into consideration the draft resolution on new composition of the government. ForUm’s correspondent reports.

Yatsenyuk has noted that candidatures for positions of Ministers haven’t showed a desire to make a speech from the podium and the People’s deputies have proposed to vote for the Cabinet’s composition without the discussion.

Head of the Counting Commission Mykola Shershun has started the procedure of vote for the composition of the Cabinet of Ministers by raising hands.

President welcomes PM appointment

 President Viktor Yushchenko welcomed the election of Yulia Tymoshenko for the post of the Prime Minister and noted that it is an evidence of democratic coalition’s effectiveness. President’s press office reports.

Viktor Yushchenko also noted that modified voting procedure which was transparent and undisguised showed no doubts about legality of the decision. “Today’s voting proved that democratic powers are capable of acting in productive tandem. That provides grounds for expectations that new steps of the coalition aimed at resolving top-priority state issues shall be fruitful as well. There is a broad field of action before the coalition and people shall evaluate the results of these parliamentary majority’s and Cabinet of Minister’s actions,” President said.

Europe is glad about Tymoshenko's appointment

Europe is glad about Tymoshenko’s appointment

European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner is glad about appointment of Yulia Tymoshenko to the position of Prime Minister and hopes for rapid formation of the government. She told Ukrainian journalists today.

“I am glad that now Ukraine has a PM and hope other Ministers will be appointed soon and we will be able to cooperate with Ukraine again,” Ferrero-Waldner.

She also noted that elections in Ukraine were honest and independent, and expressed hope that government would be effective.

She expressed satisfaction with the fact of PM appointment in general, but not with the person who is appointed, in particular. According to her, it is inner business of Ukraine.
