Tymoshenko blames PR, CPU and Lytvyn bloc for sabotage

Representatives of BYuT and “OU-PSD” bloc, following the law, came to the sitting of the working group on preparation for the VRU session. BYuT leader Yulia Tymoshenko said that today at the briefing, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.

Tymoshenko expressed regret that Party of Regions, CPU and Lytvyn bloc “commit sabotage” of this process. She noted that today the apparatus of the VRU called all participants of the working group. Tymoshenko said that team of democratic forces has come today for the sitting of the working group in time. According to her, it is not a whim but a term, defined by the law.

Tymoshenko noted that according to the law, working group must hold its sitting within 10 days after official results publicizing.

Tymoshenko promised that the team of democratic forces would come to the sitting of the working group every day. She expressed hope that tomorrow the PR, CPU and Lytvyn bloc would find time and come to the sitting in order to work for the country, stability and normal system of power formation.

President honored architects and artists

President Viktor Yushchenko on Wednesday attended a ceremony to present state awards to the nation’s top architects and artists and said in a speech “each nation tries to emphasize its individuality and wants its originality to be reflected in architecture and art,” President’s press office reports.

“Each nation seeks self-identification and so each nation resorts to its own language and spares no effort to develop it, to its culture, as it is one of the features of our uniqueness, the hues and sectors of our being, and to its architecture, as values and traditions are formed through volume, shape, relief and image and some part of these values and traditions become symbols and perhaps even sacred symbols,” he said.

Yushchenko said a nation that “will find in its heart high respect and high esteem for what is called pictorial art and architecture will be happy.”

Ohryzko believes in rapid demarcation of Ukrainian-Russian border

The first deputy Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko considers that process of demarcation of land Ukrainian-Russian border may be completed in a year. He said that today in an interview.

“It is difficult for me to say now how long this process can last but it is not years. I think within 10-12 months demarcation can be completed,” he said.

“Wish of two countries to complete this process is very important. Political desire is necessary,” he said.

He expressed satisfaction that during last meeting of Russian and Ukrainian Foreign Ministers in Belgorod, Russian side informed about formation of demarcation committee.

Now, according to Ohryzko, it is necessary to start work of the committee. “Now everything depends on Russian colleagues. We are ready to hold session of the demarcation committee in November,” he noted.

Yushchenko represented propositions concerning gas negotiations

President Viktor Yushchenko on Wednesday met with National Security and Defense Council Secretary Ivan Plyushch, Energy Minister Yuriy Boyko and Foreign Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk. President’s press office reports

They discussed gas issues, especially next year’s gas prices and gas transit fees. Yushchenko and Boyko, who will soon lead Ukraine’s delegationin gas talks with Russia, spoke about how to conduct these crucial negotiations.

President Yushchenko represented his propositions, on the basis of which the Directions for the Ukrainian government delegation concerning gas negotiations with the Russian side will be formed.

Olexander Shlapak, President Yushchenko’s first deputy chief of staff, was present at the meeting.

Sitting of working group is postponed till Thursday

Sitting of working group is postponed till Thursday

Sitting of the working group on preparation for the first session of the parliament of the sixth convocation finished. ForUm’s correspondent reports.

Speaker of the parliament of the fifth convocation Olexander Moroz told that 15 representatives of the BYuT and the OU-PSD bloc were present at the sitting. “As the regulations foresee the presence of more than half of representatives of the working group, we have decided that the sitting will be held tomorrow at 3 p.m.,” he noted.

Moroz emphasized that he offered representatives of the working group to gather leaders of the political parties, represented in the parliament of the sixth convocation, separately in order to sort out all procedures and the necessity to follow them.

The working group numbers 30 representatives of the political forces, elected in the VRU. Quorum needs 16 persons to be present at the sitting.

Lytvyn bloc offers to hold working group sitting on Thursday

Lytvyn bloc offers to gather all political leaders of political parties and blocs, who got to the parliament, together with representatives of these political forces and to hold sitting of the working group on preparation for the VRU session on Thursday, November 8. The representative of Lytvyn bloc Ihor Sharov said that today, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.

According to Sharov, he does not see any perspectives in the working group sitting without solution of the whole number of political issues.

“There is a significant threat of that activity of the working group will become a topic of political speculations,” he said. At that he noted that the new parliament must start its work following all legal and regulations norms.

According to Sharov, both in the parliament and in the working group all elected political forces must work,” he said

PR, CPU and bloc of Lytvyn didn’t come to sitting of working group

The sitting of the working group on preparation for the first session of the parliament of the sixth convocation has started. ForUm’s correspondent reports.

Representatives of the orange parties have come to the sitting, In particular, the BYuT leader Yulia Tymoshenko and one of the OU-PSD leaders Vyacheslav Kyrylenko are present.

Representatives of the Party of Regions, the Communist party of Ukraine and the bloc of Lytvyn have not come.

At the same time, it should be noted that there are five representatives of the OU-PSD instead of necessary four.

Ukraine wants EU to recognize Holodomor as genocide of Ukrainians

Ukraine discusses with several faction of the European parliament the possibility to initiate the recognition of Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people. First deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Ogryzko stated in an interview.

He has noted that he doesn’t see any problems in adoption of such resolution by the European parliament.

“This is the question of time. Moreover, when we worked on the resolution on Holodomor in the UNESCO, all member of the EU were unanimous to support us,” Ogryzko said.

He has also noted that for today more than 150 People’s deputies from the European parliament are ready to support such resolution. At the same time, according to Ogryzko, the work on Holodomor recognition as genocide of the Ukrainian people in the world is not simple.

“This is not a simple work, because it concerns sensible question – history. And you know that history of many countries is also not simple and there are episodes which can arouse particular problems,” First deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine said.

As earlier reported, the parliaments of 12 countries of the world have recognized Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people. On November 1 the resolution on immortalization of Holodomor victims was approve by the UNESCO.
