President visits Vestas Wind Systems

President visits Vestas Wind Systems

Victor Yushchenko visited an R&D and test center of Vestas Wind Systems, the world’s largest manufacturer of wind turbines, in the Danish city of Aarhus on Thursday, President’s press office informs.

“Our Danish colleagues carried out studies in Ukraine and say such a factorycould be opened on our territory,” he told reporters.

The President added that energy cooperation with Denmark was one of Ukraine’s priorities.

In 2003, it merged with the Danish wind turbine manufacturer NEG Micon to create the largest wind turbine manufacturer in the world. Today, the company is named Vestas Wind Systems A/S.

Moroz: Opposition should not press on VR

During consideration of draft bill on changes in the budget of the current year that foresee minimal increase of salary and pension, the chairman of the VR Olexander Moroz denied statement of opposition that this question is considered only due to opposition’s pressure on the coalition. He told the parliamentary journalists, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.

“This draft bill is considered on the basis of the VR resolution, adopted before the new year but not under the pressure of some political forces. This is a resolution of the VR. I pay your attention that changes to the budget are introduces to the budget on the results of the first quarter of the current year,” Moroz noted.

Baloha and Tymoshenko signed new Directive

Baloha and Tymoshenko signed new Directive

On
Thursday, March 15, chairman of “Our Ukraine” Council Viktor Baloha and BYuT leader
Yulia Tymoshenko signed the third Directive on cooperation.

As
press-service of “Our Ukraine” informed, the document concerns necessity to
pass joint declaration of local party organizations of “Our Ukraine” and BYuT
in support of joint declaration of the united opposition, which includes 17
demands to the anti-crisis coalition.

The
Directive is about the necessity to hold meetings with people and to cover actions
and intentions of the united opposition in mass medias.

Baloha and Tymoshenko signed earlier two other
Directives: the Agreement on united opposition and the Agreement between OU and
BYuT leaders of regional organizations and “Our Ukraine” and BYuT factions.

Yushchenko: Ukraine needs Denmark support

The president of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko declares Ukraine needs support of Denmark in work on enhanced agreement between Ukraine and the EU. He told the journalists during official visit to Kingdom of Denmark, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.

“We need political dialogue on Ukrainian and European perspectives. We need Denmark’s support in work on enhanced agreement between Ukraine and the EU, we need support in voting in the European football association on question of possible conduct of European championship in Ukraine and Poland in 2012,” the President said.

Yushchenko noted that Denmark is our sincere and constant friend in integrity question of Ukraine and the EU.

The President also expressed hope that all scheduled negotiations in scope of his two-day visit will be successful for Ukraine. Yushchenko informed that nine bilateral agreements and protocols are expected to be signed. “In the first place there are agreement s that regulate European process between Ukraine and the EU,” the President noted.

Yushchenko forbids to build high blocks in Kyiv center

The President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko issued a decree that forbids to build high blocks and off-dimension buildings in central historical part of Kyiv. Viktor Bondar the deputy head of the President’s Secretariat told today the journalists.

“The president signed a decree and charged Kyiv state municipal administration to make order on this question, to forbid construction of high blocks and off-dimension buildings in central historical part of Kyiv,” Bondar said.

According to Bondar, the President charged the Kyiv state municipal administration to fix a border of historical part of Kyiv.

The President also charged the Cabinet to make order on construction in central parts of other cities of Ukraine, and creation of rest and green zones.

Yushchenko charged the Office of Public Prosecutor within three months to check legality of constructions in the historical part of Kyiv. “All submissions should be revised and analyzed,” Bondar said.

According to the President’s Secretariat, nowadays about 100 objects have permission for construction that break architectural integrity of the city. Kyiv authority also intends to give permission for construction of 50 objects.

Ukraine starts coal export to Bulgaria

Ukraine starts coal export to Bulgaria

Ukraine in April will
start exporting coal to Bulgaria, Coal Industry Minister Serhiy Tulub told
journalists, “Cabinet press office” reported.

According to him, the
supply will amount up to 100,000 tons per month.

Between April and
September some 800,000 tons of coal is supposed to be exported to Bulgaria.
Contracts are concluded upon full pre-payment.

The Ukrainian coal
balance will be ensured at the expense of increasing coal extraction by 2.7
million tons annually. According to the two-month performance, Coal Industry
Ministry enterprises cope with the plan.

In 2006 coal extracting
enterprises increased coal extraction by 2.8% versus 2005, up to 80.257 million
tons.

President not to abandon Ohryzko’s candidature

Representative
of the President in the Parliament Roman Zvarych said to parliamentary
journalists that the Secretariat of the President has no intention to do anything
in connection with the failure of parliamentary vote for Volodymyr Ohryzko.

“We
will not take any steps because the submission is open and there is no final
decision. But if I were asked what the President’s decision would be in case of
refusal of the submission, I would say that there were all grounds to consider
that the President of Ukraine wouldn’t abandon this candidate. It means that
there will be one more submission with this candidate” Zvarych said.

Commenting upon questionable statements of the
deputies about a person who signed the submission, Zvarych emphasized that it
was signed by the President of Ukraine, and added that technical side of the
issue is out of President’s competence.

Party of Regions supports NATO maneuvers in Ukraine

Party of Regions supports NATO maneuvers in Ukraine

NATO maneuvers “Sea-Breeze 2007”, transferred from Crimea
to Odesa, will be supported by Party of Regions as it does not contradict the
party’s program. PR deputy Vadym Kolesnichenko told journalists.

“We do not object to cooperation with NATO, and
cooperation includes maneuvers. We just object to joining NATO without
referendum,” he said.

“Question of maneuvers is normal issue. As soon as
this question is put in the agenda we will consider it,” the parliamentarian
added.
