Ukraine can refuse from the WTO

Yanukovych: Ukraine can refuse from the WTO

Ukraine will not enter into the WTO in case it causes damage to economic interests of the country. The Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych told at today’s press conference, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.

To compromise that would break our national interests or interests of our commodity producers…We wont do this,” Yanukovych said.

At the same time he considers that today the question of Ukraine’s accedence into this organization is being considered. Much will depend on committee that will make a decision for General Meeting. It seems to me that a decision at the General Meeting in February will be positive. If the committee decides to work in Ukraine on improvement of some directions of relationships with our partners-members of the WTO, we will fulfill this decision.

Yanukovych is sure that if the General Assembly of the Council of Europe lays conditions for Ukraine under which we make worse Ukraine’s economy, we won’t accept such conditions. Then we will improve our economy and finally when we are ready we will enter into the WTO.
