FC Shakhtar helps the Tu-154 victims

FC Shakhtar (Donetsk) has transferred $300.000 on the bank account of Tu-154 crash victims, the FC press service reports.

The coaches, football players and the directorship condole with the relatives of the victims.

As a reminder, on August 22, Tu-154 belonged to Pulkovo Airlines crashed nearby Donetsk, all the passengers and the crew died.

Ukraine’s police officers to undergo training in the USA

As Oleksandr Novykov, Deputy Minister for Internal Affairs, said Tuesday, several dozens of Ukrainian police officers would undergo advanced training in the USA with the framework of the US Administration’s program on helping Ukrainian law enforcement bodies.

Having undergone the US courses, these officers will start training Ukrainian personnel in Ukraine, the deputy minister said, Cabinet’s press office reported.

“Thus, we will apply international standards in law enforcement activity,” Oleksandr Novykov noted.

Kyiv Mayor passed a new program for stray kids

Kyiv Mayor passed a new program for stray kids

Kyiv City State Administration has approved the City Program for Stray Kids for 2006-2010. The resolution has been inked by Kyiv Mayor Chernovetsky, the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) press office informed.

Over 3.000 stray kids and orphans have been registered by the special tutelary agencies. But lots of new kids are found again and again in Kyiv streets, KCSA Deputy Chairman Denis Bass informs. The new program is aimed at creation of the complex measures for overcoming the problem. It plans to form wide network of institutions for social protection of kids which will be financed by different sources.

The main capital departments and services will implement the program. “But the main target is to eliminate the reasons caused the homelessness,” concluded Vitaliy Zhuravsky commissioned to control the implementation of the program.

Ukraine’s Customs Service to analyze importation of automobiles as humanitarian aid

An inter-agency working group has been set up to analyze the situation involving importation of automobiles into Ukraine as humanitarian aid, the press service of the State Customs Service has announced.

The working group is made up of representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Labor and Social Policy Ministry, the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the State Tax Administration, and the State Customs Service.

The group is to submit proposals to the government on regulating importation of automobiles as humanitarian aid for disabled people.

According to the State Customs Service, 919 automobiles worth US$ 6.9 million were imported into Ukraine as humanitarian aid in the first quarter of 2006. This is 2.4 times more than the number imported during the corresponding period of last year.

According to the service, 70% of these automobiles came from four foreigners.

They include stolen expensive automobiles.

Ukraine’s Cabinet to revise “privatization list”

Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine intends to revise the list of economic and holding companies, state stock of which is subjected to sale this year, as the Plan of urgent measures on overcoming the crisis provides for.

According to the document, the government charged the State Property Fund and Ministries of Economy and Finance with the job of preparing corresponding draft resolution with specification of the privatization list and determination of sale terms.

The decision of the Cabinet is motivated by “a risk of failure to fulfill annual plan of receipt from privatization of state property.”

Ukraine’s government ready to present its Action Program for 2007 – 2011 to Parliament

The Cabinet of ministers of Ukraine is ready to present its Action Program and Draft Strategy of the nation’s social and economic development for 2007 – 2011 to the Verkhovna Rada, Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych told the Parliament’s Tuesday session, Cabinet’s press office reporte.

According to the Head of Government, the Draft Strategy envisages attaining the economy’s sustainable growth, so that in 2009 – 2011 the nation will be able to create necessary conditions for Ukraine’s transition to the post-industrial economy.

As Viktor Yanukovych told the lawmakers, the Government has drawn out 42 bills, which will be conveyed to the Parliament for prompt consideration and adoption.

Viktor Yanukovych also stated the Government’s resolve to cooperate with the opposition, which he referred to as both the Government’s controller and ally.

It should be reminded at this point that the Action Program’s endorsement by the Verkhovna Rada will safeguard the Cabinet from passing non-confidence vote for a year’s time.

MP Raisa Bohatyryova to coordinate the Anti-crisis Coalition

Vice-PM Andriy Klyuyev revealed to the journalists that the Coalition council has voted for Bohatyryova’s candidacy at today session. He also reported that the co-chairmen of the coalition became the leaders of the affiliated political parties (SPU, PR and CPU).

As a reminder, Victor Yanukovich took the chair of the Coalition Coordinator after its formation; CPU Petro Symonenko and SPU Vasyl Tsushko were appointed the Co-Chairmen.

“First of all we will initiate the consideration of the draft law on the number of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the fulfillment of the state reforming program that had been approved by the president,” Anatoly Kinakh, the head of the VR committee on national security and defense issues said.

“When this law comes in, the Ukrainian army will have a highly professional base,” he noted, “Razom” site reported.

“Good experts are members of our committee,” Anatoly Kinakh has emphasized, “Sub-committees on defense security, reforming, economic security, information security, and defense complex etc. have been formed.”

Commenting on the next political season, the MP noted that it would probably be very complicated. “We face a difficult political process as we turn to a parliamentary-presidential system of governing,” Kinakh said, “Therefore we will need a high level of political culture, sense of responsibility and national priorities.”
