Election of Ukraine’s PM postponed for tomorrow

On today’s session deputies will not consider the approval of the candidature of Victor Yanukovich for the post of Prime Minister of Ukraine, as VR speaker Moroz decalred.

“This procedure must follow the signing of the agreement concerning reformation of the coalition, which has not been done yet. I will announce a recess for the deputies to finish preparation of the corresponding documents. We are considering this issue tomorrow,” Moroz said.

He added that the President expressed a wish to participate in tomorrow’s session to perform his duty as for submission of the candidature for PM post and concerning swearing in judges of Constitutional court.

Tymoshenko quarreled with Yushchenko in public

During the roundtable in the President’s Secretariat BYuT leader Yulia Tymoshenko officially declared the party’s decision to be in opposition to the power.

“We intend to build interfaction parliamentary opposition and we invite all factions and deputies who really understand what is going on to join us,” Tymoshenko said.

She assured her voters that “there still is a political force in Ukraine which will take responsibility for realization of those principles, which were declared during presidential campaign…our activity will not let anybody to perform actions which are incompatible with democracy in Ukraine.”

In his turn, the President accused Tymoshenko of inactivity. “If you had taken part in working out of the Universal you would have had the right to say these words. You just beat chest, speak about patriotism, but do nothing…I think it is an idle policy,” the President said to is former fellow-fighter.

Universal of national unity has been signed

Universal of national unity has been signed

Official ceremony of signing of Universal of national unity took place in Kyiv, in which President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko, speaker Oleksand Moroz, Prime Minister Yuri Yekhanurov and leaders of parliamentary factions took part.

The document was signed by SPU leader Vasyl Tsushko, Our Ukraine leader Roman Bezsmertny and Party of Regions leader Victor Yanukovich.

Our Ukraine and Party of Regions signed coalition agreement

Leaders of parliamentary factions of Our Ukraine and Party of Regions signed the memorandum on coalition formation, OU member Roman Zvarych told journalists.

According to him, “leaders of other factions will also join the memorandum soon.”

Zvarych said it would “the coalition of national unity” activity of which was based on main principals of Universal unity pact.

The deputy informed that contradictions concerning unitarity, state status of the Ukrainian language and NATO accession had been solved.

Ukraine's President met US Ambassador

Ukraine’s President met US Ambassador

Victor Yushchenko met with U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor, president’s press office reported.

The President spelled out his vision of the settlement of the parliamentary crisis. He said the major achievement of the so-called National Unity Pact, which Ukraine’s political leaders are expected to sign today, was the preservation of Ukraine’s domestic and foreign policies and its reforms.

Yushchenko and Mr. Taylor also discussed bilateral relations between Ukraine and the United States. They agreed the two countries should build closer economic ties. The Head of State reiterated Ukraine regarded the European Union, the United States and Russia as its major strategic partners.

BYuT intends to ignore VR sessions

BYuT intends to ignore VR sessions

BYuT faction will not take part in Verkhovna Rada sessions on which deputies will approve candidature of Victor Yanukovich for the post of Prime Minister of Ukraine and composition of the government, as BYuT representative Anatoly Seminoga told ForUm’s journalist.

According to him, on today’s faction meeting BYuT discussed the current situation and all members agreed that interests of voters, ideals of Maidan and President’s program had been betrayed.

Semonoga reminded that BYuT would be in opposition to the power in force.

Our Ukraine will join the coalition

Our Ukraine will join the coalition

Our Ukraine faction is ready to join the new coalition, as OU member Roman Zvarych told journalists.

He noted that the faction has not considered the question concerning voting on Yanukovich candidature for the post of Prime Minister of Ukraine yet.

“There are no grounds to state that the coalition of the new format is obliged to support the candidature of the previous coalition,” the deputy said.

According to him, the faction also has not considered distribution of spheres of responsibility in the government. At the same time, he noted, it has already been agreed that candidatures of Minister of Internal Affairs, Prosecutor General and Security Service Head will be nominated by the President.

Ukraine’s President submitted PM candidature for parliament’s approval

Submission of the Ukraine’s President on candidature of Prime Minister of Ukraine has arrived in the parliament.

Leader of SPU faction Vasyl Tsushko forecasts that the agreement on formation of the wide coalition will be signed on Thursday and the new Prime Minister will be appointed.

According to him, the new government may be formed as early as on Friday.

In his turn, member of Party of Regions Oleksandr Stoyan reported that on Friday deputies might swear in judges of Constitutional court.
