Naftogaz Vice President Yuri Nemchenko has resigned

Ukraine’s PM Yuri Yekhanurov has put his signature under the resignation handed in by Nemchenko, Yekhanurov’s press secretary Valentyn Mondryevsky told.

That was the second resignation of Naftogaz authorities. On December 7, the First Deputy President Serhiy Pereloma resigned by his own wish.

President of Ukraine Yushchenko dismissed Aleksey Ivchenko

The First Deputy Fuel Minister Aleksiy Ivchenko has been dismissed after the final failure of gas negotiations with Gazprom Russia. The full version of the President’s decree was posted in the official site of Ukraine’s President.

Aleksiy Ivchenko was appointed the First Deputy Fuel Minister of Ukraine on March 2, 2005. The official version of the dismissal is the liquidation of the appointment.

The agreement about the electoral bloc “Our Ukraine” will be signed on Dec. 12

On Monday, Dec. 12 at 12a.m. the agreement about the electoral bloc “Our Ukraine” will be signed on Maydan Nezalezhnosti, NSNU press service told.
 
Leaders of “People’s Union Our Ukraine”, People’s Movement of Ukraine, Party of industrialists and entrepreneurs of Ukraine, the Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists, Christian-Democratic Union and Ukrainian Republican Party “Sobor” will sign it.

President of Ukraine telephoned Angela Merkel

President of Ukraine telephoned Angela Merkel

Victor Yushchenko telephoned Angela Merkel. He congratulated her on being elected Federal Chancellor of Germany, wishing the colleague to successfully work for the welfare of the German nation and the whole European Union, the President’s press office told.

The President assured Ms. Merkel that European integration was our country’s strategic goal. He added that Ukraine hoped the newly elected German government would start a new dialogue between the two states. Yushchenko said he believed it would be frank and mutually supportive to help Ukraine fulfill our strategic priority to join the EU and NATO.

The President stressed that the new Ukrainian government expected to hold Ukrainian-German consultations soon.

Yushchenko and Merkel also discussed results of the Ninth Summit “Ukraine – European Union,” which had been conducted on December 1.

NSDCU is looking for investors

The National Security Defence Council of Ukraine recommends speeding up the construction of Odesa-Brody-Plotsk-Gdansk oil-pipe line.

NSDCU Secretary Anatoly Kinakh stressed the necessity to involve foreign investment for realization of the project.

“The oil-pipe line is the principal meaning for creation of Eurasian oil transit corridor,” mentioned Kinakh in NSDCU briefing in Kyiv. Brody-Gdansk section is to construct before 2006, Kinakh told.
