Iraq bans Ukrainian poultry

Iraq bans Ukrainian poultry

Today Iraq has announced about ban on poultry import form 20 countries, Ukraine included.

Such action was introduced in accordance with the spreading of bird flu. The list of banned countries consists of Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Greece, Croatia, Romania, Pakistan, China, Turkey, Indonesia and others.

Oil patch was found in the Black Sea

Oil patch was found in the Black Sea

The oil patch with four-meter diameter was found in Yuzhny area of water near Odessa port, Ministry for Emergency Control press office reported.

Now the experts are trying to detect the source of pollution. The ship-collectors is trying to clean the water and to set booms but the storm prevents it.

Ukraine’s Defense Minister to visit Iraq

Ukrainian Defence Minister Anatoly Gritsenko will visit Iraq in the nearest time, the press office of Defence Ministry reported.
 
The target of the visit is to study and check Ukrainian peacemaking contingent’s readiness for withdrawal.

The Ukrainian Minister is to meet International Forces commanders and Iraqi officials.

The President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko congratulated Vitaly Dokalenko on designation of NTCU President

The President of Ukraine reported that after long and repeated interviews with several candidates to the post of the National Television Company of Ukraine President, he realized how responsible and large the company is. It requires serious reforms done by experienced TV journalist and manager. Moreover the head of the National Television Company must be politically unbiased.

Yushchenko said he was convinced that Vitaly Dokalenko would manage to consolidate the team andreform NTCU the way it would function as public television. He noted that parliament should soon approve a bill on public television.

Then he wished the newly appointed president “to keep the most professional workers and preserve all achievements of the team that has been working under Taras Stetskiv in the past eight months.”

The name of Ukrainian Ambassador to the USA is a secret…so far

The name of the next Ukrainian Ambassador to the US must not be revealed before officially appointment of a person, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Boris Tarasuk said during ForUm on-line conference.

“The appointment of an ambassador is a very complex procedure. It consists of interior and exterior elements. The name of the candidate must not be known before the end of the procedure,” added Tarasuk.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Boris Tarasuk stresses that the United States is the strategic partner of Ukraine. “The current relations of Ukraine and the US are built upon the program “Agenda of new century,” mentioned Foreign Minister Boris Tarasuk.

Civil Liberties Fund Representative Alex Goldfarb on Yushchenko’s poisoning and Gongadze’s murder

The Civil Liberties Fund of Boris Berezovsky does not intend to investigate or to take part in investigation of Yushchenko’s poisoning, Alex Goldfarb stated in the press conference.

“We have no idea what is happening with this investigations,” said Goldfarb and added that the Fund is involved in investigation of Gongadze case. The Fund believes in investigation committee of Gongadze case; it has all which is needed for the final report on it, Goldfarb added.

Goldfarb informed that the Civil Liberties Fund plans to invest $100,000 to documentary film about Yushchenko’s poisoning.

He also told about several thousands of e-letters from different people. They state to posses information which may be useful for investigation of the Gongadze case. The Fund is likely to hand all these letters to the General Office of public Prosecutor of Ukraine.

Berezovsky's Civi LIberties Fund starts its activity in Ukraine

Berezovsky’s Civi LIberties Fund starts its activity in Ukraine

The Director Executive Alex Goldfarb told about functions, tasks and priorities of the Fund’s activity in the press conference.

Alex Goldfarb on behalf of the Fund announced the contest among civil initiatives concerning the parliamentary elections-2006. The winners will be financially supported. The size of the support will be $5,000 – $20,000.

Non-governmental and non-commercial organizations and also online mass media may take part in the contest. Political parties and organizations representing a certain candidacy for the elections are not to be permitted to the contest.

Goldfarb states that the results of the contest will be known in the middle of December.

President of Ukraine and TNK-BP managers discuss issues of oil industry

The President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko held a working meeting with the top managers of the international holding TNK-BP, focusing on the situation in Ukraine’s oil market, development of oil processing industry in Ukraine and its transit capability, the TNK-BP Ukraine press service told.

The participants discussed coordination of activity from the point of view of stipulating the flow of investments to modernization of refinery capacities and ensuring long-term stability of the Ukrainian oil product market.

The meeting was attended by Chairman of the TNK-BP Board of Directors Mikhail Fridman, Executive Director German Khan and President of the TNK-BP Ukraine Alexander Gorodetsky. The President of Ukraine and TNK-BP representatives agreed to step up a dialogue with regard of protection of domestic oil producers.
