Russia to reduce oil transit via Ukraine

Russia will reduce the amount of oil, transported via Ukraine, from 54 million metric tons to 45 million tons, a Transneft oil company representative told a Russian-Ukrainian energy meeting Tuesday, RIA Novosty informed.

The representative said the reduction involves all Ukrainian oil pipelines except the Odessa-Brody pipeline (on the Polish border), which was initially designed to supply Caspian oil to Europe but has instead been used "in reverse mode" since 2004 to transport Russian oil south to the Mediterranean basin.

Russian oil officials are concerned by the many risks associated with the operation of the Odessa-Brody oil pipeline. The Ukranian delegation proposed using of the pipeline "in direct mode" instead of "in reverse mode."

An Industry and Energy Ministry official said the delegations agreed to establish a working group, comprising oil companies and government officials, to discuss the proposal.

Kravchuk: We have got characteristic features of economic crisis

Leonid Kravchuk the First President of Ukraine reckons that the economic and political situation in Ukraine will worsen.

"The prices on food, especially on meat, have been raised by more than100% in comparison with 2004. The prices on fuel are constantly getting higher. The inflation of the half-year is 15%, the gross domestic product reduced by 3.2 times. So, we have got all characteristic features of economic crisis. It goes without saying, that it negatively influences peoples’ life," stated Kravchuk.

During his visits to Dnepropetrovsk, Lugansk, Vinnitsa and Odessa he spoke with people who stated that the new power had prepared the falsification of elections. "At least, the elections to local bodies of power which were held in 2005 conducted without even smell of democracy," mentioned the First President of Ukraine.

He announced that he and his party will do all their best in order to maintain the justice by all means of legal actions.

Besides, Kravchuk centered the attention on the fact that Social-Democratic Party of Ukraine United (SDPU (u)) is ready to unite with Party of Regions for the parliamentary elections-2006. But the last word belongs to Party of Regions. "International unions of all kind are regulated by the only question whether such union will be useful for strategic interests of Ukraine. If it is useful, so we will join such structures," stated Kravchuk.

Ukraine’s clinics are accused of illegal stem cell therapy

A prosecutor’s office in Donetsk region has instituted a criminal case against several doctors of private clinics who are charged with illegally transplanting human organs, Obozrevatel reported.

"It is the first criminal case of its kind," Alexander Egorov, the Mariupol city prosecutor, said.

He told the Media that frozen material taken from the liver and brains of embryos were delivered from different regions to Mariupol.

Currently there is no law stipulating criminal liability for selling anatomical material from dead human embryos in Ukraine.

President Victor Yushchenko, however, recently ordered his cabinet to work out a state program for transplantation issues for 2006-2010.

Stem cell therapy, forbidden in a number of countries, has become very popular among the rich and famous in recent years. For example, even Russian pharmaceutical magnate Vladimir Bryntsalov has injected a dose of stem cells into himself and currently says at his 59 he feels like he is 20.

Scandal – Zhirinovsky: “Yushchenko is worse than Hitler,” his wife is “Banderian’s daughter” and all Ukrainians will be exiled to Siberia

Lvovskaya Gazeta reports that Vladimir Zhirinovsky the leader of Liberal-Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) made Anti-Ukrainian speech at the picket being held by his party before the Embassies of Georgia, Ukraine and Israel in Moscow.

Zhirinovsky menaced Ukraine with Apocalypses because of "Viktor Yushchenko is worse than Hitler," who was more honest than Ukrainian President and because of "his wife is the daughter of Banderian who eloped to America.

Zhirinovsky stated also that Hitler "opened Russian schools and churches," and Yushchenko "closed Russian Orthodox churches."

He strongly recommended Ukrainian politicians "not to forget Russia language because they will need it to answer the questions of Russian investigators in Lubyanka."

"We will exile all of you in Siberia, you will not be shot because Ukrainians will be used as frozen museum pieces," threatened Liberal-Democrat.

Zhirinovsky mentioned that "to study Ukrainian for Russians living in Ukraine is a flout; it does not happened in any country all over the world." Ukraine is "a part of Russian Empire. Lvov will be a capital of small Ukrainian state and let them develop their culture if any."

He warns that "all Russians of the Earth will come back to Moscow." "You have become insolent here in Ukraine, Yushchenko will be punished, it has influenced his health condition already, it was done by Ukrainian patriots," stated Zhirinovsky.

The newspaper also mentions that "Zhirinovsky is one of the ten high officials of Russian that is why it may be proposed that his voice is the voice of official Russian power."

LDPR picketers were guarded by two tens of policemen. All journalists had to pass in their Ida and the foreign ones – accreditation cards.
