Austrian editor has shot a film about Ukrainian miners

On September, Michael Glawogger’s film "Workindman’s Death" is included in Venetian Film Fest lineup. Glawogger’s film is the only documentary venturing into terrible conditions of labor of Ukrainian miners working illegally in desolate coal mines in Donbass, Eastten Ukraine.

The preliminary demonstration of the film took place in Berlin on Thursday.

The film consists of six parts. Each part tackles hard, underpaid and hazardous labor of workingmen of the different countries. One part is dedicated to Eastern Ukraine. The target of the film is to call attention of European politicians to horrible conditions of work in XXI century.

The demonstration made strong impression on some German politician. Some of them, Michael Zommer confessed that Donbass’s situation surprised him most of all. "I am astonished thunderstruck by the plots of the film. Watching Ukrainian realia, I said to myself: look, it is the very country which longs for nearest entrance into the EU. It is a Europe," stated him.

Commenting on the film, Franz Muntefering the Chairman of Social-Democratic Party of Germany mentioned that Germany and other industrially developed countries must share professional knowledge and modern technologies with the regions where everyday workingmen die.
