Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine: The information about arms traffic is under control

"Ukraine steadily follows its obligations concerning the control on international arms traffic, the corresponding resolutions UNO and agreements on different regimes of export control in particular," stated the deputy head of press service of the Ministry on Foreign Affairs, Dmitry Svistkov. The statement was made regarding the information about Ukrainian arms traffic for Congolese government reported by Amnesty International.

"The trustworthiness of the information is checking now by the competent agencies," added Svistkov.

Ukraine repeatedly figures as the participant of "arms scandals." In particular, in 2002 Kiev was suspected to be involved in the sale of radars "Kolchuga" (Hauberk) to Iraq. This fact was not confirmed.

We remind that Amnesty International accused Ukraine of sale of weapons to Congolese government.

Is there no place for the speaker of Verkhovna Rada in the bloc of the power?

The head of Dnepropetrovsk Regional Organization of "Nasha Ukraina" (Our Ukraine) political party, Alexander Zhyr, reckons that the strong coalition of BJT (Julia Timoshenko Bloc) and "Nasha Ukraina"  should be created without the People’s Party (Volodymir Litvin’s political party) for the participation in the parliamentary elections-2006.

The statement was written in Zhyr’s open letter to the president of Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko. The text of the letter was read today in the press-conference in Kiev.

According to his words, the coalition should consist of not only three parties (Nasha Ukraina, BJT and the People’s Party) but of all parties which had created Nasha Ukraina and BJT before.

Therefore, all parties should take part in the negotiations concerning the creation of the coalition.

Zhyr also stated that the coalition should be headed by "the candidate prime minister, who will form the government after the elections," Tribuna reported.

In response to the journalists’ questions, Zhyr reported that Julia Timoshenko should be the leader of the election list.

Zhyr stated that it was his personal view, which had not been submitted to Nasha Ukraina’s approval.

The speaker of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has no idea about weapon for Congo

"I am not surprised with this or that conflict which will be connected with Ukraine. Why? It is because of the slowed condition of Ukraine and because of the possibility to polish some kinds of technologies, which would prevent something of that kind in the future. And the last reason of such accusation is large number of people in Ukraine who claim themselves as upholders of justice; they are greatly interested in traducing of Ukraine inside and outside of its borders. They show their struggle against Ukraine and its people," stated Litvin.

According to his words, the problem should be resolved by the experts of the weapon traffic.

We remind that Amnesty International accused Ukraine of weapon traffic with Congolese government.
