Lucenko begged Herbst for obsolete cars

The minister of internal affairs, Yuri Lucenko, and US Ambassador to Ukraine, John Herbst, discussed the question of cooperation and deliverance of material and technical aid to Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the press-service of the Ministry reported.

In particular, Lucenko said about his intention to ask US Department of State to transfer to Ukraine the state property which was written off, such as: obsolete office cars and the communications, "Obkom" reported.

We remind that the facts of falsifications during the presidential election in Ukraine were under discussion between the minister of internal affairs, Yuri Lucenko and the US Ambassador to Ukraine, John Herbst.

Teryokhin thinks WTO “to be necessary for everyone”

The entrance into WTO will not cause any negative after-effects, said Teryokhin in the press-conference today.

According to his words, the entrance in WTO is necessary for every businessman and every citizen of Ukraine. Due to entrance into WTO, Ukrainian consumers will be able to buy the high-quality goods by cheaper cost.

In the response to the journalists’ question about the term of budget-2006 formation, Teryokhin said that the Ministry of Economy is going to complete its resolution before June 1.

Kolinko has been dismissed

Olga Kolinko has been discharged on grounds of staff reduction, "Interfax-Ukraine" informed. We remind that she took up a post of the deputy prosecutor general of Ukraine.

She has been also released from the duties of the member of the Board of the General Office of Public Prosecution.

Kolinko filled the post of the deputy prosecutor general in November, 2003. Before this she took up the following posts: in April, 2003 – starting as the head of the Coordination Board for Struggle with Organized Crime and Corruption; the advisor of the president of Ukraine.

In April, 2005 Kolinko stated in the press-conference that Svyatoslav Piskun organized illegal investigation of facts touching upon him personally, which had taken air in the meeting of Coordination Board for Struggle with Organized Crime and Corruption in 2003.

Kinakh is against the value-added tax

The first vice-premier of Ukraine, Anatoly Kinakh, coming out in the forum dedicated to the regulatory policy, called the investment value-added tax "a bit controversial one," "UNIAN" reported.

"It is a very controversial to tax the investment to the main funds in the midst of the financial year," mentioned Kinakh in particular.

He pointed to the necessity of systematic work directed on the improvement of tax administrating, the value-added tax in particular, and the creation of the single social tax.

Kinakh reckons that office-holders should be responsible for the damage of the state economic structure caused by their actions.

The state committee wants to be controlled by the president

The State Committee for Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship asked the president of Ukraine to give it the status of the national commission and place it under the authority of the president and Verkhovna Rada.

The head of the State Committee for Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship, Andrey Dashkevich, stated that it, coming out in the forum "Regulatory Policy is the pledge of the openness and clearness of the power." The president of Ukraine and the prime minister of Ukraine were present there, "Obkom" reported. Andrey Dashkevich subjected the Cabinet to criticism, concerning the situation with statutory acts of the Cabinet which did not regarded their regulatory influence on the businessmen. 

According to his words, the Cabinet does not have the structure which would competently assess the regulatory influence of the Cabinet’s statutory acts. The lack of such estimate let the Cabinet to pass the economically groundless decisions and increase the pressure onto the businessmen. Dashkevich added that the Ministry of Economy is going to get the authority to register businessmen and give them license.

Yushchenko was conferred the rank of professor

The honored rank of international professor was given to the president of Ukraine by the academic council of Ternopol Economical University.

Sergey Yuri, acting as the rector of the university, informed that the rank of professor was given to the president of Ukraine for his achievements as the head of National Bank of Ukraine and for the significant contribution to the economy of Ukraine. The exclusive Honore Kauser’s diploma will be presented to the president of Ukraine on May 28, at the celebration ceremony of graduates’ meeting, “UNIAN” reported. 

The rank of international professor is evidence of international recognition of personal achievements significantly contributing to the development of the society. The rank is widely avowed in Europe, said Sergey Yuri.

Ukraine will meet foreign investors in June

Today the forum "Regulatory policy – pledge of openness and clearness of the power" took pale in Kiev, ForUm’s correspondent reported.

The first vice-prime minister of Ukraine, Anatoly Kinakh, declared that the meeting of investors from the whole world would take place in Ukraine on June 16-17.

In Kinakh’s opinion, the today’s forum should help to attract foreign investments in Ukraine. The first vice-premier also reported that 40-45 milliard UAH are beyond the bounds of the state budget. "It is necessary to improve the situation," he said.

Ministry of Economy of Ukraine liberated petrol price

On May 25, Ministry of Economy has abrogated its order establishing the wholesale petrol and diesel limits, the press service of Ministry of Economy reported.

According to the order of May 23, Ministry of Economy reduced the period of validity order 95 of April 14 "About the establishment of the wholesale petrol and diesel limits" up to May 25, instead of June 1, "UNIAN" reported.

The president of Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko, charged the Cabinet with regulating of oil market situation by the decree of May 18. This decree found the Cabinet’s policy touching upon the managing of oil market to be incorrect and discordant to the principles of market economy.

The president also charged the Ministry of Economy with countermand of its acts about the administrating of price formation in the oil market and providing with the effective information about the trends of the world oil markets.

We remind that the previous prices were established in the following amounts: diesel oil price-by 8 %( 0,24 UAH),up to 2.99 UAH per liter; A-95 petrol – by 7% (0,21UAH), up to 3.2 UAH per liter; A-92 petrol – by 1,4% (0,04UAH), up to 2.99 UAH per liter.
