“Regions of Ukraine” and SDPU (u) closed the session of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

The session of Verkhovna Rada was block out by the factions "Regions of Ukraine" and Social Democratic Party of Ukraine (united) before the appointed time.
 
They blockaded the tribune of the parliament, "UNIAN" reported.

As reported before, "Regions of Ukraine" faction was going to blockade the parliament work for its demands to be satisfied. It was reported by the deputy Igor Shkirya, ForUm informed.

Sheckley is ready for transportation to the USA


The new details of Sheckley`s disease were revealed. Now he is in Kiev hospital. The diagnosis is bipartite pneumonia.

His lungs cannot work properly that is why he is breathing with the help of special apparatus.

Today the doctors said on the press-conference that the state of Robert Sheckley health is getting better, he is practically ready to depart to the USA. The one problem is that the hospital where the cure will be continued has not been chosen yet.

The relatives of the famous writer expressed their thanks to the people who sent money to save writer’s life. According to their words, the cure cost has already exceeded 60,000 UAH, reported “ICTV.”

Chervonenko will lose 700,000,000 UAH

The Minister of Transport and Communication of Ukraine, Evgeny Chervonenko, said that his ministry would lose 700 million UAH as the result of the amendment to act about oil products export.

"I am a bit worry of one fact. We are checking the data, but the Ministry of Transport and Communications in the person of Avtodor are loosing 700 million UAH for the road building," said the minister speaking in the press-conference on Thursday.

He informed that it has been already reported to the government. He also mentioned the necessity to overcome the oil crisis, "Interfax-Ukraine" reported.

According to his words, 30,000 t of fuel were reserved in Kazakhstan for the needs of the rail transport. On May 20, the head of Kazakhstan railway will come to Kiev and negotiate on the subject.

We reminded, the act cancelled the tariff-rate on the high-octane petrol and diesel oil was passed by the president of Ukraine.

In the response to the questions, Chervonenko said that his ministry will help to raise the oil and its products out of water. "The Ministry of Transport and Communications is ready to raise any amount of up to 2,000,000. We have got the movable train and we will fulfill our commintments."

The doctor of Law from Washington will advocate Boris Kolesnikov

The press-service of Donetsk regional council reported that American counselor, the doctor of Law Richard A. Hineby from Washington would advocate the chairman of Donetsk regional council, Boris Kolesnikov, together with Andrey Fedur.

The lawyer was invited to defend Kolesnikov in Ukrainian court as well as in International one, "KID" informed.

The investment to Ukrainian economy amounted 797.4 billion USD

The investment to Ukrainian economy amounted 797.4 billion USD

In the first quarter of 2005 the direct investment in Ukrainian economy amounted 382.2 billion USD, on April 1, the total volume of it amounted 8.797.4 billion USD.

As the State Committee of Statistics reported, the direct investment getting from the states of the Commonwealth of Independent States amounted 14.7 million USD or it is equal to 3.9% of the total volume. The direct investment getting from the other countries amounted 367.5 million USD (96.1%). In the same time the non-residents seized 82.8 million USD, "UNIAN" reported.

In the first quarter of 2005, the increase of foreign investment amounted 235.0 million USD, it is equal to 2.7% of the volume of the beginning of the year.

The increasing of the non-residential investment is observed: the Virginia and Britain islands – to 128.4 million USD, the USA – to 31.5 million USD, Cyprus – to 25.7 million USD, the Great Britain – to18.5 million USD, Hungary – to 17.2 million USD, Russia – to 16.7 million USD, Netherlands – to 9.8 million USD, Italy – to 9.7 million USD.

The greatest increase of foreign investment was observed in the following spheres: the wholesale trade and brokerage sale companies – 85.5 million USD, the building – 17.3 million USD, the extractive industry – 16.8 million USD, the food industry and processing agricultural production – 16.7 million USD, machine-building – 14.9 million USD, the real estate companies, the brokerage business – 62.5 million USD, financial organizations – 17.9 million USD.

The investment was getting from 116 states all over the world, 10 of them made 75% of the total amount of the direct investment. The main states-investors are the following: the USA – 1207.8 million USD (13.7% of the total volume), Cyprus – 1115.0 million USD (12.7%),the Great Britain – 938.6 million USD (10.7%), the Virgin and Britain islands – 684.9 million USD (7.8%), Germany – 603.5 million USD (6.9%), Netherlands – 564.9 million USD (6.4%),  Russia – 511.0 million USD (5.8%),  Switzerland – 430.4 million USD (4.9%), Austria – 352.6 million USD (4.0%), Poland – 198.6 million USD (2.3%).

10570 Ukrainian enterprises were invested. The following regions were invested: Kiev-capital – 2927.9 million USD (3826 enterprises and 33.3% of the total foreign investment), Dnepropetrovsk – 822.8 million USD (641 and 9.4%), Kiev – 526.3 million USD (309 and 6%), Odessa – 525.2 million USD (655 and 6%) Donetsk – 504.1 million USD (343 and 5.7%), Zaporozhye – 479.7 million USD (253 and 5.5%), Kharkov – 413 million USD (430 and 4.7%), Lvov – 353.2 million USD (1095 and 4%), Crimea – 355.7 million USD (225 and 4%).

10570 Ukrainian enterprises were invested. The following regions were invested: Kiev-capital – 2927.9 million USD (3826 enterprises and 33.3% of the total foreign investment), Dnepropetrovsk – 822.8 million USD (641 and 9.4%), Kiev – 526.3 million USD (309 and 6%), Odessa – 525.2 million USD (655 and 6%) Donetsk – 504.1 million USD (343 and 5.7%), Zaporozhye – 479.7 million USD (253 and 5.5%), Kharkov – 413 million USD (430 and 4.7%), Lvov – 353.2 million USD (1095 and 4%), Crimea – 355.7 million USD (225 and 4%).

On April 1, the amount of credits and grants getting by Ukrainian enterprises from the direct investors is equal to 570.2 million USD. The biggest ones were from Cyprus – 130.3 million USD, the USA – 114.9 million USD, Poland – 55.6 million USD, Germany – 52.9 million USD and the Great Britain – 51.1 million USD.

Ukraine joined Bologna Process

Ministers responsible for higher education in 40 European countries meet in Bergen 19-20 May 2005 to take stock of the progress of the Bologna Process since the Berlin meeting in September 2003. The decision was made that Ukraine would join the Process.

After signing the documents, the Ukrainian delegation, headed by the minister of education and science, Stanislav Nicolaenko, continued together with other participants of the forum to discuss setting of directions for the further development towards the European Higher Education Area to be realised by 2010.

“Borisfen” and “Zakarpatie” can lose the UEFA license

“Borisfen” and “Zakarpatie” can lose the UEFA license

There is a possibility that the teams of major league of Ukrainian football championship "Borisfen" (Kiev) and "Zakarpatie" (Chernovtsy) will not get the license, which gives a right to take part in the championship of Ukraine and competitions under the aegis of UEFA.

According to the first vice-president of Football Federation of Ukraine, the head of Certification commission, Sergey Storozhenko, these clubs can not confirm the correspondence of clubs’ infrastructure with minimum criteria of Regulations about certification of FC.

Certification commission of FFU will consider clubs’ application for the license on Monday 23.

Certification is obligatory for all members of UEFA.

Litvin brought actions against 22 deputies

There are 29 deputies – dual jobholders in Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, declared the people’s deputy Matveev. Till recently there were 34 ones.

In his turn, the chairman of VR Vladimir Litvin reported that he sent claims against 22 deputies about pre-term abatement of their deputy commissions to Court, two of which have been examined and upheld.

Litvin added that the secretary of National Security and Defence Council – Petr Poroshenko and the head of Security Service of Ukraine -Alexander Turchinov are among those 22 deputies, who are planned to be relieved of their posts of people’s deputies.
