Yushchenko will take part in the third summit of Council of Europe

The president of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko will head the Ukrainian delegation in the third summit of Council of Europe, which will take place in Warsaw on May 16-17, reported Boris Olyinik, the chairman of permanent delegation of Verkhovna Rada in Parliamentary Assembly Council of Europe.

According to Olyinik, during April session of PACE the members of Ukrainian delegation made specific suggestions to the draft of political declaration and to the plan of summit actions. He also declared that Ukraine speaks in support of simplification of visa procedure and assistance to the free service motion between Ukraine and countries-members of Council of Europe, in particular EU.

Besides, Olyinik reported that during the April session of PACE a special commission, charged with studying Yushchenko’s suggestions, was formed. Also PACE will form a group, charged with monitoring the coming parliamentary elections in Ukraine.

Olyinik informed that the president of PACE, René Van DER LINDEN, will visit Ukraine on July 6-9. He will be accompanied by five leaders of the political groups, which form Council of Europe.

Uzbekistan left GUUAM

Government of Uzbekistan sent to the chairman of GUUAM organization (Georgia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Moldova), the president of Moldova Vladimir Voronin a notification about its leaving the organization.

Such decision was made at the end of GUUAM Summit, which took place in Kishinev.Uzbekistan refused to take part in the Summit because, according to the official Tashkent opinion, GUUAM became a "political organization".

International search is called for Bakai

International search is called for Bakai

Ministry of Internal Affairs in accordance with the decision of Kiev Office of Public Prosecutor declared that international search has been called for Igor Bakai, the former head of the Department of State Affair.

Pechersky district court of Kiev sanctioned his detention and bringing to Ukraine under guard, Department of public relations of MIA informed, DVC reported.
In this regard MIA sent a corresponding inquiry to Interpol.

Kiev Office of Public Prosecutor brought a criminal action against Bakai for commitment of crimes, according to the article 365, part 3 (abuse of power or official position, which entails serious consequences) and the article 27, part 3 (organization of crimes commitment and conducting the preparation process or the commitment) of Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Commitment of these crimes provides for custody for the period from 7 to 9 years with deprivation of the right to hold some certain posts or to carry on some certain kind of activity for the period to 3 years.

In case Lasarenko comes to Ukraine he will be arrested

Prosecutor General Svyatoslav Piskun declares that in case if Lasarenko comes back to Ukraine, a criminal action will be brought against him.

"A criminal action will be brought against him as well as against everybody, who is under investigation. We have our own relations with Pavel Ivanovich," said the prosecutor in an interview to "Ukraina moloda" (Young Ukraine).

Piskun explained that arrest was chosen as a preventive punishment towards Lasarenko, and it is necessary to change investigative actions in order to abolish this punishment. "However, there are no grounds for abolition of the Lasarenko’s arrest," underlined Piskun.

Yushchenko did not venture to talk with citizens of Sevastopol

During his yesterday’s visit to Sevastopol the president of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko did not venture to talk with demonstrators, who were meeting near Eternal fire.

Citizens of Sevastopol met the president with placards "No NATO in Ukraine", "Yushchenko, fulfill your promises", "The future of Ukraine and Crimea is in unity with Russia".

Some demonstrators, in general senior citizens, tried to come to the president, but were pushed aside by the guard. And Yushchenko departed to official meeting with war veterans and wished them health.

In the evening Yushchenko also represented the new head of city state administration, police general Sergey Ivanov.

Robert Shekly has been refused treatment in state hospitals of Kiev

The writer Robert Shekly, who came to Kiev to take part in the forum of fiction writers, suddenly fell ill and is staying now in private hospital in Kiev. He is connected to the system of artificial respiration.

Yesterday the representatives of world-wide known writer in Ukraine appeared with a special statement. They ask the government of Ukraine to further Shekly’s transfer to a state hospital. They consider the writer will not be able to recover in a private hospital, but only in a special-purpose one. For the time being all state establishments, they addressed to, refused treatment.

Doctors diagnosed progressive respiratory deficiency. Some years ago Shekly survived infarct.

All witnesses in connection with Gongadze’s case have been testified

All former and present officials, the voices of which were allegedly stated on Melnichenko’s records, have been already testified in General Office of Public Prosecutor of Ukraine, Svyatoslav Piskun, the prosecutor general, reported.

"Kuchma, Litvin, Derkach and others, who are recorded on Melnichenko’s records, weretestified in connection with "Gongadze’s case" as witnesses. The only person, who did not come, is Mr.Kravchenko," said Piskun.

Prosecutor General also admitted that he did not talk with the ex-president personally. "He (Kuchma – ed.), as well as others, was testified in Office of Public Prosecutor. Besides, Kuchma was not sent a notice of appointment, he was just called by phone – and he came".

Andrey Lisij illegally transferred a lot measuring 122.5 hectares to FC “Dynamo”

On basis of materials of Department of fight with organized crime of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region the Office of Public Prosecutor brought an action against Andrey Lisij, the head of state administration of Bovovetsky district.

The detained is suspected of illegal transference of a lot measuring 122.5 hectares to the football club “Dynamo” for rent for the period from 2003 to 2004, and of illegal sale of a lot measuring five hectares near the village Zhdenievo.

Within the investigation it was established that the head of the region caused damage to the state in the amount of 685.5 thousand hryvnias.

On this fact a criminal action was brought according to the article 364, part 2 and the article 365, part 3 of Criminal Code of Ukraine – abuse of power and exceeding commission.
