Kolesnikov is officially arraigned

Today the investigator charged with extra important cases of General Prosecution arraigned Boris Kolesnikov in the presence of his advocate Andrey Fedur, the press-service of General Office of Public Prosecutor reported to ForUm.

In particular, Boris Kolesnikov is accused of administration of crime – Extortion of assignation or right to property by an official using his official position, with a threat of murder, which caused property damage (article 189, part 4 of Criminal Code of Ukraine).

For administration of this crime sanction of the article provides for imprisonment from 7 to 12 years with confiscation of property.

Goldfarb and Felshtinsky will bring Melnichenko’s records to Ukraine

The head of Civil Liberties Fund, formed by the businessman Boris Beresovsky, Alexander Goldfarb and historian Yurij Felshtinsky intend to arrive in Ukraine this week and bring Melnichenko’s records. 

"We will bring materials, records and other things to attach them to the criminal case… We have not agreed with the date of arrival, but I think it will happen on Wednesday", – Goldfarb said.

Goldfarb and Felshtinsky will also testify, "Interfax-Ukraine" reported.

In response to the question why the former colonel-lieutenant of Federal Security Service Alexander Litvinenko will not come with them, Goldfarb said: "As concerns Litvinenko, the providing him with security can appear to be a problem. Under arrangement with the Ukrainian side he will be testified in London".

According to Goldfarb, there is no threat of his safety or safety of Felshtinsky. "The matter is that we are citizens of the USA and are not the officials of Federal Security Service. Our safety was guaranteed by the Ukrainian side, and this question is not as sharp as with Litvinenko", – Goldfarb underlined.

Kolesnikov can bring an action

During the arrest of the chairman of Donetsk region administration Boris Kolesnikov representatives of law machinery violated his rights. Representatives of Ukrainian Helsinki union of human rights declared about it.

According to the Constitution, arrest without court permission can be conducted only in the case of absolute necessity. There was not such necessity in case with Kolesnikov, "the 5th channel" informed.

The representative of Ukrainian Helsinki Union on human rights Evgen Zaharov said that "the very procedure of detaining and delivery to court were conducted with violation of the article 5 of European Convention on Human Rights". "And if Mr. Kolesnikov appeals against law machinery and actions of government on the whole, he has good chances to win", – he said.

“Eurovision”: demand for tickets exceeds supply

More than 15% of tickets for international song contest "Eurovision-2005" will go on retail, the president of National TV Company of Ukraine Taras Stetskiv declared on the press-conference.

According to him, the tickets can be bought only by Internet now, but will appear in free sale at the end of April. The leaders of tickets buying are Ukraine and Great Britain.

For today the quantity of spectators, wishing to get to the contest, five times exceeds the quantity of seats in Palace of Sport. Mr. Stetskiv admitted that 30% of tickets are reserved by international organizations, and considerable part of them is bought by countries-participants, UNIAN reported.

Speaking about the state of Palace of Sport, Stetskiv declared that all requirements of European broadcasting union would be fulfilled to April 23.

Myroslava Gongadze will meet with Piskun and Lucenko

The widow of the killed journalist Myroslava Gongadze, who lives in Washington and has a status of refugee in the USA, plans to stay in Ukraine for ten days.
Myroslava will meet with representatives of different law machinery and politicians, "Ukraynska Pravda" reported.

Requests about meetings were directed to prosecutor general Svyatoslav Piskun, the minister of internal affairs Yurij Lucenko, the head of Security Service Alexander Turchinov, the head of Committee of VR charged with struggle with organized crime and corruption Grygory Omelchenko, vice-premier charged with humanitarian questions Nickolay Tomenko and others.

A shooting group of US Public television arrived in Kiev together with Myroslava Gongadze for examination the process of investigating the "Gongadze’s case".

Omelchenko refused to Kolesnikov’s suporters

Kiev city state organization refused a protest action on the territory of Mariinsky Palace to "Ukraine Regions Youth Union", the representative of the union Vladimir Philipov reported.

According to him, they were informed that the tents, placed in the park, "are minor architectural forms and city administration does not give permission to place tents in Mariinsky park".

Philipov also said that city administration warned about corresponding actions, which would be undertaken in connection with this situation.

According to him, on Monday morning the participants of the protest action saw four trucks with policemen. In respond to the question of demonstrators, policemen said they were directed for strengthening of Verkhovna Rada guarding.

Philipov said the representatives of law machinery did not come to demonstrators.

He also underlined that deputies permanently visit the tent town and some deputies from "Party of Regions’ promised to watch in the town.

One of the tent town dwellers informed that they intend to go to Lukyanovsky investigative isolator, where Boris Kolesnikov is kept, and to express him the support every day. "We will not leave this place without Boris Kolesnikov", – one of participants said.

Myroslava Gongadze, the widow of the killed journalist Georgiy Gongadze, arrives in Ukraine today.

The main aim of her arrival is to testify to General Office of Public Prosecutor concerning the case of disappearance and death of her husband, "rep.in.ua" reported.

Israeli Company threatens Ukrainian government

Israeli Company "Supercom", which specializes in producing passports, can appeal to international degree of jurisdiction with a claim against Ukrainian government, if government does not pay for company’s service, the official representative of the company Eyal Tukhman declared.

Having won in the tender, "Supercom" started producing Ukrainian foreign and internal passports by request of Ukrainian government. However, production chain was postponed and the concern EDAPS, formed for this, started to co-operate with another technologic maker despite of the contract with Israeli Company. March 11 the president of Ukraine abolished the previous edict concerning EDAPS.

The representative of "Supercom" admitted that Ukraine paid off partially for company’s service and equipment. Pays-off were stopped after government of Victor Yanukovich had come to power. Now Ukraine’s debt makes $20 million. If the problem with passports is not solved the company will appeal to degree of jurisdiction of European Union.
