Interior Ministry prepared for elections

Interior Ministry of Ukraine worked out plan on security of public order on day of early parliamentary elections. Vasyl Fatkhutdinov deputy Interior Minister said in an interview, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.

According to him, Interior Ministry also solved question on transportation of bulletins and security of foreign observers. The Ministry also agreed question on possibility to vote of police officers who will serve this day and also people who will be detained for breaking laws.

At the same time, the deputy Minister said that except police staff, military personnel of Interior troops will be involved to provide public order during elections.

PR suspects president’s team of falsifications

Suspension by the President of Cabinet resolution on improvement of citizens registration system opens way to falsifications of elections on September 30. Raisa Bogatyryova the PR faction leader said that today at a briefing, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.

“There is no objective data on electors in Ukraine. Previous elections showed it when millions of citizens could not vote. To prevent this in future the VRU adopted a law on February 22, 2007 on state list of electors that had to come into force since October 1, 2007,” she said.

According to her, after President’s decree on elections, “threat of falsifications concerning absence of real data of electors appeared again.”

She noted that additional check of Interior Ministry proved that 12-15% of citizens of Ukraine do not live at the address where they are registered.

Yushchenko: Law-enforcement bodies became a mechanism of corrupted power

President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko calls law-enforcement bodies to activate work against corruption and to be out of policy and not to be afraid of officials. It is impossible to live in such corruption. It does not allow the country to develop,” he said, ForUm’s correspondnet informs.

President noted that it was always not easy to serve in law-enforcement structures. It is hard work that demands high professionalism, devotion and patriotism.

“You became a mechanism of corrupted power,” Yushchenko said, addressing the law-enforcement bodies.

President noted that today trust to the law-enforcement bodies is declined. “We must have coordinated plan for all the law-enforcement bodies on struggle against crimes and corruption. You must return people’s trust,” he stressed.

Yushchenko calls the law-enforcement bodies to provide fair and transparent elections and not to stand to this or that political force side.

Israel to introduce non-visa regime for Ukrainians

Israel to introduce non-visa regime for Ukrainians

Visa regime simplification between Ukraine and Israel will be introduced within 2 years, representative of the Israeli Foreign Ministry Yariv Ovadja said.

The special inter-ministerial commission of the Israeli government recommended to abolish visas for Russians. Israeli Tourism Minister Yitzhak Aharonovich, who has initiated the regime, hailed the decision.

In case the regime will prove its success it will be launched in regard with Ukraine in 2008.

Head of the Israel -Ukraine Chamber of Commerce Lev Levayev said that the non-visa regime will enable to boost trade turnover with the CIS at least twice.

Bogatyryova calls opposition to come to VRU

Coalition has nothing to do but to participate in extraordinary VRU session on September 4. Raisa Bogatyryova the PR faction leader said that today at briefing, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.

“On September 4 the VRU will open extraordinary session. We are obliged to do so because time, electors and our opponents demand it,” she noted.

According to Bogatyryova, questions on cancellation of people’s deputies immunity and benefits will be considerd at the session. Government’s position concerning budget-2008 will be also heard.

According to Bogatyryova, accusation and statements of opposition concerning illegal actions of the coalition have no legal and moral grounds.

She proposed opposition to come to the parliament, to hold fair dialogue and adopt corresponding decision.

“It seems to me that problem the opposition raised, in particular cancellation of immunity, is turned into dirty political show,” she added.

Yushchenko demands officials to publicize their incomes

President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko demands officials, law-enforcement bodies, judges and their families to declare their incomes and expenses annually. He said that today, presenting his anti corruption initiatives at Coordination session of law-enforcement bodies, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.

In particular, the President calls law-enforcement bodies to support his proposition to implement annual publicizing of incomes and expenses of officials.

“There are no applauses, I understand, but it will be made for the state,” the President said, adding that it will contribute to transparency and trust to officials.

Yushchenko proposes to adopt new order on state purchases

Yushchenko proposes to adopt new order on state purchases

President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko proposes to adopt new order on state purchases at session of NSDC on September 4. He said that today at the session of coordinative council of law-enforcement bodies, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.

Yushchenko reminded that at that time current system of purchases was developed by Vasyl Tsushko (SPU), changes were made by Olexander Tkachenko (CPU representative). President also recollected all people from parliamentary majority who developed current mechanism of tender purchases and its realization.

President proposed to work out new mechanism together with Government and law-enforcement bodies. He stressed that this document can be adopted and signed by NSDC members, President, PM, Prosecutor’s General, Supreme Court Chairman on September 4. Yushchenko also proposed to introduce a point in this document concerning obligations of the parties to approve this document on legislative level after first session of new parliament.

BYuT promises to give 50% places in future Government

BYuT promises to give 50% places in future Government

BYuT plans to give 50% of places in future Government to its allies from OU-PSD bloc regardless how many votes each bloc will have. Olexander Turchynov the head of BYuT election headquarter said that in an interview.

He confirmed that BYuT plans to get 36% of electors in order to get 226 seats in the parliament. “We will not break our agreements. In case we get 226 votes in the parliament, it will be possible to work fair and calm in the parliament,” he said.

“Even if we get 336 votes, we will give 50% of Government positions to our allies,” he said.

Turchynov repeated once more that People’s deputies from BYuT who resigned would not participate in “sabbath” during VRU session scheduled for September 4.

Ceremonial opening of IV VRU session to take place on Tuesday

Press service of the VRU informs that ceremonial opening of the IV session of the VRU of V convocation will take place on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at 10 a.m.

Moreover, on September 3 there will be session of Conciliation council of the VRU.

As ForUm informed earlier, Olexander Moroz declared on convocation of extraordinary VRU session. According to him, draft bills on changes to the Constitution concerning cancellation of the People’s deputies immunity and benefits, impeachment, rights of local authorities are going to be considered at this session. Moroz started sending invitation letters to People’s deputies for participation in the extraordinary VRU session. OU and BYuT refused to participated in the session. PR and CPU supported Moroz’s idea.
