Martynyuk explained reasons for Transdniester problems

The first deputy chairman of the VRU Adam Martynyuk considers that relations problems with Transdniester are on economic and territory level.

According to the press service of the VR, he told today at the mutual session of the committee of the VR on foreign affairs and committee on foreign policy and euro integration of the parliament of Moldova, taken place in Odessa, headed by the committee chairman Vitaly Shybko.

Among the economic problems Martynyuk named hydroelectric power station on the territory of Moldova, transport problems and problems of boundary crossing, UNIAN informs.

Moreover, Martynyuk noted that Ukraine takes part in solving Transdniester problem. Martynyuk wished the session participants success and noted on carrying out of such session again. He considers it is expediency to carry out such actions on the territory of Transdniester and to find solutions for current problems by parliamentary methods.

President forwarded a letter to PM

Victor Yushchenko has sent a letter to Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych and his cabinet with an urgent request to submit their agendato parliament for a vote, Deputy Secretariat Chief of Staff Ihor Pukshyn said at a briefing on Wednesday, President’s press office informs.

He said the Prime Minister has to follow such a plan, under Ukraine’s constitution [article 114].

“The government was formed more than six months ago but no program has been proposed so far,” he said, adding that governmental decisions were thus “dubious.”

In his letter, the President wrote the program was one of the elements making the cabinet legitimate, as it “determines objectives of its policies and outlines goals of social development, sets major tasks and describes measures for their implementation, and should be used by the country’s executives.”He saidit was a “basis” to formulate other state programs and reminded the Premier that the program has to be submitted to parliament within a month after the formation of the government.

The President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko is convinced that Ukraine needs profound reforming of state power system, he told today.

Yushchenko noted that one can’t give positive answer whether the society is satisfied with the work of state administrations of different levels. The President considers that reform of local authorities can help to change this situation. Referring to the European experience, the President opined that the reform should be carried out in the context of administrative reform.

Merkel comments on Euro integration progress in Ukraine

The Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel does not see yet perspectives of Ukraine’s accession into the European Union. She told at common press conference with the PM of Ukraine Vikotr Yanukovych after their meeting in Berlin.

“Concerning membership perspective, Yanukovych informed about Ukraine’s positions on this point. Ukraine has special place in relations with the EU. The next step is a creation of free trade zone. It will be considered as a progress,’ Merkel said.

In turn Yanukovych said that in the scope of the negotiations Ukraine got positive signals concerning perspectives of membership in the EU. “We have got a sign that the EU is opened for Ukraine. This will be stated in new agreement for next ten years,” Yanukovych said.

Yushchenko to “resist” coalition

The Head of the President’s Secretariat Viktor Baloha declares that the President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko will veto, in case the anti crisis coalition ignores draft bills that the President submits as urgent to the VR and also considerations of “Our Ukraine” and BYuT. Baloha told today in an interview.

“In case the so called anti crisis coalition ignores draft bills that the President submits to the VR as urgent and also considerations of “our Ukraine” and BYuT, the Head of the State will veto all draft bills with votes less than 300 during adoption,” Baloha said.

“I guarantee that the President will veto draft bills every time when there is a threat for the Constitution, national security, democracy and human rights,” Baloha noted.

“Regions” to observe Tymoshenko

In the near future a group of the people’s deputies intends to visit the USA with the purpose to check information about suposedely admission, by the American court, the BYuT leader Yulia Tymoshenko companion in crime, committed by ex PM of Ukraine Pavlo Lazarenko.

The first deputy chairman of the Party of Region Vasyl Kiselyov told today at the press conference.

According to him, the people’s deputies – members of current committees of inquiry of the VR will leave for the USA.

“I think that in the near future group of people’s deputies will leave for Washington to check the information concerning Tymoshenko. We will ask to confirm or deny this information,” he said.

Kiselyov also reminded that recently the representatives of the Party of Regions have forwarded a letter to the US Ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor with the request to grant official documentary explanation on this question.

The People’s deputy noted that there is no answer yet. That’s why there is an intention to visit the USA to find out as far as legal debt amortization of corporation “United energy systems of Ukraine” in amount of UAH 7.5 milliard was.

Victor Yushchenko’s exclusive interview with the Associated Press on Wednesday focused on home and foreign issues, President’s press office informs.

The President said Ukraine’s leading political forces must unite to protect national interests, which he described as “the only right path to stability.”

The government and its head, he said, must be the country’s stabilizing factor.

“I am certainlydisappointed that Viktor Yanukovych has not fulfilled any clauseof the [ National Unity ] Pact. I am convinced the Prime Minister is the first person who needs this document. However, if his point of view is different, I can only feel sorry,” he said.

Yushchenko said it was “very dangerous” for the head of the government, who is in charge of the country’s social and economic development,to “play political games.”

“One has to work sometimes,” he said.

Today, February 28 the speaker of the VRU Olexander Moroz celebrates his birthday. The President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko has congratulated Olexander Moroz on this occasion.

“I would like to express respect to your significant personal contribution to development of the Ukrainian state,” the President’s greeting said. The President believes that Moroz’s efforts will be aimed at strengthening of justice, peace and consent in Ukraine. “All our society expects it,” Yushchenko noted.

Olexander Moroz was born on February 29, 1944 in Kyiv region. In 1965 he graduated from the Ukrainian agricultural academy. He is Mechanical Engineer specialist. Then he graduated from party school by the Central Committee of CP of Ukraine. He has a good command of German. He is married and has two daughters.

Cabinet will consider military-industrial complex programs

In early March the Cabinet of Ukraine will consider the development programs of military-industrial complex of Ukraine, the vice Pm of Ukraine Andry Klyuyev told today in Kharkiv.

It was the answer the question whether the Government plans to place armament orders at the state enterprise “Plant by Malyshev”.

“In early March under the management of the PM Viktor Yanukovych, programs of military-industrial complex, including this enterprise, will be considered,” Klyuyev said. According to him, there are financial resources for this.

Klyuyev noted that at the Cabinet session the state order will be considered.

Tymoshenko is on three-day visit to the USA

The BYuT leader Yulia Tymoshenko pays three-day visit to the USA.

According to the press service of BYuT, today Yulia Tymoshenko is expected to make a speech in Center for Strategic and International Studies. After this the working lunch takes place with BYuT leader and representatives of expert centers and the government agencies of the USA participation. Yulia Tymoshenko also holds a meeting with ex-state secretary of the USA Madlen Albright and gives an interview to mass media today.

On Thursday the BYuT leader will hold meetings with the vice President of the USA Dick Cheney, the Senator and the Committee chairman of the USA Senate on international affairs Richard Lugar. The meeting with the congressmen and the representatives of the Ukrainian Diaspora are also scheduled.

On Friday Tymoshenko will hold meetings with the State Secretary of the USA Condoleezza Rice and the senators of the Republican and Democratic Parties. Yulia Tymoshenko will also meet with the representatives of the American companies, run business in Ukraine.
