Yushchenko signed the decree on Common Free Market Zone (CFMZ)

The president of Ukraine signed the decree on consummation of the resolution of National Security and Defense Council about formation of CFMZ of May 20.


According to the decree, the main target of Ukraine’s participation in formation and functioning of CFMZ is creation of free trade zone without any constraints and exceptions, Interfax-Ukraine reported.

National Olympic Committee of Ukraine (NOCU) accepted Yanukovich’s resignation

The minister on youth and sport affairs, Yuri Pavlenko, reported that the executive committee of NOCU accepted Yanukovich’s resignation from the post of the head of the committee.

On June 23, the general assembly of NOCU will elect a new head.

Pavlenko mentions that he relies on the choice of the assembly. It will choose the right person to represent Ukrainian sport in the world.

According to him, the candidate for this post should be the sportsman or close related to sport and be experienced in world Olympic movement. Pavlenko also mentioned that Yanukovich was right concerning the resignation, because of his opposition activity, Sportivny obozrevatel reported.

Among the real candidates he called the names of Sergey Bubka, Valery Borzov and the first vice-president of NOCU, Ivan Fedorenko.

Piskun to visit the USA

The general prosecutor of Ukraine, Svyatoslav Piskun, plans to visit the USA with the purpose to sign a memorandum of cooperation and lawful support. He declared about it on the briefing in General Office of Public Prosecutor, ForUm’s correspondent reported.

"My visit to the prosecutor general of the USA will take place in the period from July 5 – 15, 2005," said Piskun.

According to his words, the preparation of the agreement with the USA took almost three years.

“Re-privatization list” will not be promulgated

 The government of Ukraine will not promulgate the list of objects, subjected to re-privatization due to violation of law during sale. But the government intends to continue considering these violations in Court, reported the vice-premier Oleg Ribachuk.

According to him, Cabinet of Ministers will try to achieve peace agreements with new owners of enterprises.

Ukrainian authorities contest the legality of privatization of more than hundred enterprises, including about 30 strategic objects, Tribune reported

Ukrainian delegation will visit Australia

Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine supported by Ukrainian Embassy in Australia is planning a visit of business delegation from Ukraine to Australia, for the first time during the years of Ukrainian independence, AgriMarket reported.

According to specialists from the Chamber, cooperation with Australia in terms of trade and economy has a significant potential as Australia can become a new market for Ukrainian goods. Besides, Australia invests in foreign countries. But yet there have been no debugged business contacts between the two countries.

The most potential industries for cooperation of Ukraine and Australia are engineering industry, fuel-and-energy complex, agroindustrial complex (particularly agricultural machine building), veterinary etc.

Ukraine to cooperate with Azerbaijan

Ukrainian president, Viktor Yushchenko, proposed Azeri president, Ilham Aliev, to cooperate in aircraft industry.

In the course of tête-à-tête meeting, Yushchenko invited Aliev to see the demonstration flight of Ukrainian planes "Mriya" (Dream), An-70 and An-148. The demonstration will take place in Kiev within the frameworks of World Economic Forum.

The issues of cooperation in GUAM and oil and gas spheres were under discussion, Interfax reported.

Today Viktor Yushchenko also plans to conduct meetings with Lithuanian president, Valdas Adamkus, and Polish president, Alexander Kvasnevsky.

Officials try to find traces of Satsuk

Today the officials of General Office of Public Prosecutor of Ukraine searched the apartment, where the ex-wife of Satsuk (the former deputy head of Security Service of Ukraine) lives with children.

The officials declined the ex-wife’s demand about necessary presence of her advocate and started the search, not waiting for his arrival.

They also did not take into account the woman’s statement that her former husband, Vladimir Satsuk, is not registered and does not live there.

Poroshenko resigned

Poroshenko resigned

The secretary of Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council, Petr Poroshenko, resigned from the post of the head of parliamentary budget committee. But he is still the deputy of Ukraine.

"I will resign from the post of the deputy if the court decision on the question of holding more than one appointment is announced. I will carry out any decision of legislative power," said he, Interfax reported.

Speaking about the would-be head of the committee, he said that there were "lots of professionals."

"The budget committee should be nonpolitical," stated Poroshenko.
